To a rational person that would be easy, but for me, I'm torn!

I don't know whether I will be able to. I selling my Works so at least I can bank the money I spend on it every month until it's released. Also when I sell my Works I should hopefully have a few K left over. We will see........

Surely the best way of getting a lightweight MCS is to order one without any options? Most people here that have an MCS also order Aircon, sometimes a sunroof, leather interior, s lite wheels etc..... this must come to the fat side of 100kilos/220lbs surely?

Renault produced a lightweight clio be deleting the aircon and ABS options.

I rekon a 210bhp car without aircon, without sunroof, with lightweight seats, lightweight wheels would have a serious bhp/tonne advantage over a normally specced up car.

It is after all power/weight ration that is the most important factor, not just lightweight. I'm not sure having perspex side windows and an alumininium bonnet is going to give you any track advantage. I don't think carbon fibre panels will make it onto a production car like this as it won't meet safety standards - CF is usually ony structurally strong in certain aspects anyway.

So why not get a de-specced MCS, then get 230 odd bhp - surely its going to be way cheaper than an LE for similar or even better performance?

Last time BMW went down the route of a seriously lightened car they got they'r fingers well burnt - the CSL - are we really sure they are going to make the same mistake twice?>

I'm just going to see what they come up with. If it doesn't cut the mustard I will just buy another S.

Has this been worked out here in the Forums anywhere? What is possible directly from the current order book (Parts availability/Manufacturer, Cost, Weight, Reliability)?

And... this is a very practical solution to the whole debate!

My main point is that most of us turn our MCS into a bit of a bloater when we order optional equipment.

So, if you are ordering an MCS Works LE, what optional equipement are you going to add.

Personally, when I'm on a track day, I have no use for: Sunroof, Aircon, Stereo, leather interior. I have purchased lightweight wheels and track tyres, but I know I'm still carting around 50 kilos of excess gear. I even went on a diet and lost 20lbs

Dunna.....depends. I'm hoping it comes as a complete package.....buy it as is. Otherwise I don't see the point, cause as you say people will just bloat them up with options.

Wonder if we'll see the Innocenti or even "De Tomaso" name back on the MINI?!

interesting thought, and what with talk of Italian trips by factory worker for sourcing

The Innocenti was more of a luxury mini rather than track though wasn't it? And wasn't it named this due to the factory it was built in?
