Sequence, if you read through this thread you'll realise you're not alone, or the first to express these views. So you probably wont get too much of a bashing as it's all been done before.

Everyone has an opinion. As my dealer has sold his allocation already and has people on a list for cancellations, it is a bit of a moot point.

So it's more or less on par with the GP. Only real difference is that it'd be heavier and have a lower rev range. But I'd have Xenons, Rear seats and it'd be in the colour I want. I really wish I could have seen the GP in the flesh as it's hard to decide without seeing it first.

add in the cost for MTH as that increases the rev limiter, and seeing as it looks safe to this with it been how the GP is getting is power I think a few JCW owners will be getting the same power for less than a trade in

not sure, there are things that would tempt me either way, the Limited Edition idea of a last MCS, but then there are negatives attached to it too

it is what puts me off, but they do seem to have improved since I last used it.

I might wait and see if I can get a dealer to put the GP software on mine instead

sorry mate, its not an easy choice, and only one that you can make.

Do you need 4 seats?
Do you prefer the look of one car over the other?
Do you want the extra 8bhp?
Do you like all the options that one car gives over the other?
Which will be more special?

And it has DSC, but no Xenons? Now that's a true driver's car....

Just like the MC40, I predict a bleak future for this car beyond the collectible market. And if MINI is so hung up on weight reduction, I suggest they dump that aero kit and them 4-spoke Yugo-ish wheels that scream "take me off!! For weight and aesthetics sake!!"

If this car cannot produce minimum 230 hp, what's the purpose? At least the MC40 had a historical event commemoration as it's reason to be. This car doesn't have squat except for some truly questionable design and constructs. Methinks it's just MINI's lame way of saying "this is our last hurrah for the first generation car." If so, someone hand me that air sickness bag, please.....

OK I'll put on my flame suit now because yes I understand that some of you see this car as the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I must admit I do like the darkened gauges. However, I, and many other motorers out there, simply do not. Not at US$31,150--and we can't even configure with one OEM creature comfort like >ahem< xenons. Flame away, Jimbo

Ok, Paul is right in saying there's not a lot I could say that hasn't already been posted in this thread. But here a few of my personnal thoughts.

" that boring utilititarian monochrome silver paint job"
Firstly the colour. I quite glad that the choice of colour on the GP is a 'no brainer' as I have found that most of the colours on offer, on the standard S, at the moment to be rarther bland and would'nt fancy anything on offer anyway.

" And it has DSC, but no Xenons?"
No Xenons. Shame their not included but nothing that can't easily be added later. I'm sure many future GP qwners already have a host of mods planned for there cars. Also seeing as I'm getting a car with a 26K spec for 22K , I'm sure I can treat myself later.

"Just like the MC40, I predict a bleak future for this car beyond the collectible market"
If anyone is buying the GP as a collectable car I feel they may well be dissappointed in the future and not one of the better reasons for purchasing a GP. Time will only tell I suppose.

"If this car cannot produce minimum 230 hp, what's the purpose?"
I feel that one thing people are overlooking is that you are getting a 218 BHP Works Kit that is fully warranteed by the dealer.

"this is our last hurrah for the first generation car." If so, someone hand me that air sickness bag, please"
Sickness bag! Have you seen the spy shots of the interior of the next generation car's

At the end of the day" whatever rocks your boat"

At least you are in a position to make a choice. You at least have right of refusal, which many people do not. For a lot of indecisive people the choice has been made for them.

It for sure will not be the same as the MC 40, as there are darn few slots left, much less going to be any seen sitting on a dealers lot with a mark down sticker on it.

I think it may turn out that there are a few sitting on lots marked as used, with a premium added.

We are buying ours not as a collector, but as a car to drive and enjoy. Sherry is looking for track tires and wheels already. We may very well put ours on Ebay when the new Turbo comes available.

Owned by an OAP, never driven over 5,000 rpm. Oops, is that a for sale post? MODERATOR!!!!
