As for the CF roof, if there's a will, there's a way. How about if they put in the rear hatch of the convertible, and make the rest of the back end fixed, like the original Mini? That would reinforce the structure and probably save some weight too, although it would mean a new rear end would have to be developed for just this car. I'm betting on a special color (emphasizes the limited edition feel), although if they take the route of the recent SE's, it might be a special color plus a subset of existing colors. Anyway, we'll first have to see whether this car materializes.

We all have to get our information somewhere, Paul here on MINI2 and Gabe at MotoringFile are great sources, "quoting" when they can. If Autocar took published information, they should quote it and if they photoshop a piccy, they should saythat they did Off soap box now "Les go wacin" ZILLA RACING '06 JCW GP# 0095

Your right Tony.... surely in the extreme you could call what they appear to be doing as false advertising, if they say "exclusive pictures of Mini CSL" or the like in an effort to get people to buy the magazine, surely if they are only artists impressions then that is misleading people into buying the Mag ?.

Mmmmm, will be watching. I hope its coming from a horses mouth, rather than its ass, which is where much of the info seems to be coming from if you read Autocar... I have to admit, I'm more interested in a 'more power' aspect than on a weight reduction aspect myself. I'll be intrigued as to any rise in JCW power output, and how that could be achieved whilst still meeting global restricitons (noise, emissions etc). With my own car running around 225-230bhp, its surprising just how rewarding even this small extra makes the car. i guess that comes mainly from the much improved torque range. If the weigth reduction comes in the form of lightweight wheels and a CF bonnet, then they can probably keep it, as this is available to all without having to pay a hiked permium. If they can save significant weight elsewhere then this may be very appealing. Do you remember, some years ago, a company started making complete classic mini shells in glass fibre...? Now that would save some weight...
