yeah, very wierd that comment. the only way you could justify saying something like that was if you actually worked for AutoExpress....

Perhaps he likes reading week after week of B***S*** personally i think it insults our intelligence to continuously print 'scoop' exclusives of artist impressions.

So orders for JCW specced MCS have been delayed to prod. wk 45? And the reason 'quoted' is a shortage of kits. Makes you wonder where all the JCW bits have gone, doesn't it? To be strapped into Lightweight Edition cars is my guess. Motoring File have hinted that this might be revealed at Misano - and Italy is certainly appropriate with the Bertone involvement....

Did they really.

I prefer to keep certain things quiet, where's the fun in spilling all the beans.

That said, I am looking forward to Misano.

But who isn't.

They quoted MINI who have said that Limited Editions and historic examples will be on show. Of course, this might have meant that they'll be plugging Checkmate, Park Lane and Seven --- but we can hope. And the timing is right. A dealer I know has been allocated one and, so far, no takers. He has been talking in the £30K ballpark which, I guess is possible if all the JWC options are on it and Bertone have done more than rip out the back seats and window glass. But, at that price - investment potential and MINI obsession apart - you can get more bangs for your bucks elsewhere. Roll on Misano!

PS - see "MINI United Count Down" article dated Oct 6th on Motoring File for their speculation....

Well, BMW have said something, so I think it's safe for me too....

And yes, I've known this for a long time, and I could say more, but I wont. Sorry, but you've got to have some sort of excitement, don't want to know too much too soon.

I'm as confident now in the car coming to fruition as I was back in January, I just know more about it than I did then.

The reason I'm out is that I can't live with a two seater, if you can, go for it.

Hmmm, interesting use of the words 'Sporty Special Edition'.

Worrying really. No use of the words 'High Performace', 'Lightweight', 'Ultimate' 'Race prepared' etc etc .

Could be a Cooper S with a shell suit on.... perhaps as naff as a go faster stripe. The words 'Special Edition' in terms of last of the line cars of a model are usually anything but Special.

Hope to be very wrong, but it does seem odd to potentially spend a lot of development money on a last of line car.

Can't see BMW shipping cars to Italy for Bertone to work on just to result in a bit of bling!
Surely, they'll lower the rear roofline (as it's a two-seater, no need for the coupe/sedan shape to remain) making it a fastback. That plus some bulging arches in alloy or cf to justify the lightweight tag, at least. Am I getting warm, Paul?

It'll certainly look different from "normal" from every angle.
