Blimey

even with my Saturday afternoon beer goggles on, this still looks like a sad attempt at creating an iconic car from a brand icon.

Not impressed.

Don't want one.

Don't like the colour and the red mirrors look Noddy to me.

Like the wheels - better than other OEM stuff, but still think you can do better in the aftermarket arena.

Would like to see suspension and chassis set up data - assume it has the single pot "works" brake kit and is running face lift gear ratios. Is LSD included?
What has the remap done to the drive-ability of the car?

S

Not very impressed with this at all. It does just look like some bits have been bolted on. They could really do with having the black wheel trim flowing into the skirts/front bumper in some way. Also simply changing the mirror cap to body colour or silver and getting rid of that damn awful rear spoiler for something a bit more stylish would go a long way!!!

I hope people from MINI marketing are reading these forums! Have the actually started building these cars properly yet? Perhaps they will see the cockup and make some alterations??! I certainly wouldnt want to be seen in one.

The one part I have found I like is the black trim under the rear bumper

Hhhmmm the rear bumper itself doesn't look too bad, and the front to an extent. Just don't look at the side on profile! If ever there was an excuse to park in tight bays at Tesco, this is it now!

The larger - more realistic - photos certainly give it more presence and I am inclined to think that it would look better in reality. The MotoringFile unveiling photos show it under lights and, again, it looks better in that situation.

My view is:-

Bodykit looks fine although it shud have been colour coded to give it maximum lowered effect!
I like the colour and the roof, the GP roof decal is cool too as well as the bonnet scoop!

Wheels look great as well as the brakes.

Mirror caps shud have been body colour or black!

The wing does not look right purely because the did not start the wing from the roof, its fitted to the back of the window and looks out of place! Badly designed!

The model shud have had more BHP 230 at least and perhaps dropped some more weight!

If i could afford this i wud buy it and change the mirrors and wing! It is pretty good value for money with the options fitted!

What a joke!

If I'd of photoshopped that, people would think I was taking the ****!

The wheels are a nice design, but 4 spokes! 5 spoke would of made them the dogs, 4 just ruins them!

And what about the arches! Why arent they body coloured to match the front bumper, or why isn't the bumpr blended in like the Aero kit! They managed to do it on the rear bumper...but then again thats just a sightly modded rear bumper!

Side skirts look bolted on!

The painted Cooper grill on the bonnet looks good, but nothing new! The continued bit of the "cooper" grill on the bumper looks looks like they forgot to do something!

At least it looks like it has some decent seats!

I think the only things I actualy like on the exterior, the more agressive plastic surround of the rear bumper, and the Fuly Colour Coded grill on the bonnet.

Would look forward to some interior shots however, interested to know how a "light weight special" can have air con, and why it has the Speedo on the steering column? Chrono pack uke: or more weight saving with Sat Nav! Or maybe something differant.

What a joke!

do car manufacturers think the consumer is stupid?

Maybe it has got a boost gauge I'd like that

Dont think it will have satnav as it doent have the shark fin.

Chromo pack then.

Just about the only thing I would change about the design of my own car would be to have the twin binnacle for revs and speeed - which would have meant satnav, but that was too expensive.

The reat wing looks stuck on - I'd rather have the JCW carbon wing I think.

Just by the way: some of you guys owe an apology to Psylon, the correspondent you doubted (whoever he/she is) who gave us the skinny on this ahead of time when we were gagging for it. Thanks Psylon, you have proved yourself and I, for one, will be interested to take on board any future titbits with an open mind.

I think that for circuit use the new GP looks ok. But not for every day use. Not something to be proud of.

I am so pleased with the Checkmate we have ordered, it is obviously the unlimited special edition, standard performance, swan song, cooper s with taste!

I wonder how many of the mini2 crew who put deposits on these will ask for their deposits back?

This should have been a world beater - an encore to a superb model, don't mini know that actually not all mini fans read Max Power?

Well I was waiting to see what this "lightweight" MCS was really going to look like. Must say that I'm not that impressed with the weight loss or styling. I think its time to get an 05 or order an 06 to replace my 02. The price of this limited edition could be pretty high and some dealers will try to mark it up even more.
