I have a message on my phone from my old dealer that he has a car for me.
Also one from a kind soul.
I will go see him tomorrow as I have been away for a couple of days and have not had a chance to get back to him. Hopefully the offer still stands.

Good Luck
Well my dealer has secured me a car and offered me a good deal on my Works.
Just sleeping on it tonight as the £1,000 deposit is non-refundable.

Perhaps you can negotiate to apply your deposit on a 2007 S should the " final" GP
not be to your fancy.

I got the feeling it was pretty set in concrete.

Doesn't hurt to ask,
and would offer some protection for your backside.

120 mile drive to Silverstone this morning - pre dawn - in freezing fog with the gritters out on the roads....
Just glad I don't have 'lightweight' without a rear windsreen wash/wipe....
Can you imagine how
stupid that would be.....

Who knows, maybe with the new rear spoiler it doesn't spray up as bad?

Actually, if the spoiler was actually any good, it would be worse. the better a spoiler performs, the more turbulance it creates behind the car (drag) the more crap gets thrown back at your rear windscreen. Still, with all that horsepower, anything behind the car will be irrelevant....
Just seems an awful compromise to save a couple of lbs....

It is the BMW bean counters saving £ and not the engineers saving lbs.

I think with a bit of hose pipe linked to the condensor of the air-con should "fix" the lack of cleaning on the rear window......

My dealer has asked for the deposit
So we have now secured a car at Jo's dealer with no deposit required, I am thinking about if I want to put a deposit down with my dealer, as it is refundable

I doubt that very much. Having had all 3 types of spoiler, (Aero, Factory Cooper Chili and Cooper S spoilers), the Cooper S spoiler is the worst, no spoiler and the Cooper Chili are next). The Aero spoiler is far better (but still not brilliant). But what can you expect with the shape of the car.
I did just over 300 miles from Friday morning with a sprakling clean car from the dealer after a warranty claim, and you can hardly read my number plate, it matches the colour of my car
Exhaust sounds mint though (thanks to Play MINI and MINI bee).
