Does no one else think that removing a lot of weight from the rear end is not a bit worrying!?

I mean I know the best setup is RWD and 50:50 weight distribution. So surely this applies to a FWD car aswell.

But the MINI's weight distribution is front heavy anyway. So putting A/C on the car (radiator in front of the front axle compressor on the front axle etc) then removing the rear seats, rear wiper and redoing the rear suspension in lightweight materials (alluminium isn't it), isn't this kind of a bit daft!?

Or am I missing something?

It'll sound great on a track - if you didn't have to wear a crash helmet at all tracks in the UK.

TonyT3 you need to get a order in for a GP or paint your current Mini "Green"

I've read most of your posts and man you've got it bad

Not a state secret but it'll cost a £1,000 to find out more.

Not at all, I just know how 'boring' the noise gets when you run without sound deadening. This would have to be a daily drive for me - I'd prefer to hear the stereo on a long journey - not the constant drone of an exhaust.

If thats the case why did you ditched your JCW Exhaust for a louder one on your last Works?

Bacause I cant see into the FUTURE..... On;y when you've lived with a car that makes that much racket do you realise that the noise gets really tedious when you're doing sustained motorway miles - and thats with rear seat and sound proofing.

It'll sound great on Sunday afternoon blasts. But if youre using it daily, and if like me you commute 80 miles, then its going to grate.

Still, never mind. No one that buys this car is going to be dissapointed.

Hey tony I know what you mean!! I went for a K&N induction kit on my Minx, but took it off as the noise became a throbbing drone on the motorway!

23,000 miles in just over a year is a lot of miles, and the panel filter that i now run much better suits my needs!

We all change our minds....and noise is definite consideration!

Thing is, these noise levels sound great when you first test drive a car of first fit a modification, its only when your a bit tired and a bit less enthusiastic that it becomes a bore.

Pretty sure the GP is going to sound great on a dealer test drive. Only later would it become an issue. Obviously, those buying the car as a track special wont think this.

Doh, just remembred - all those that have committed to buying have done so without the benifit of a test drive.

Depends really, I didn't find a playmini exhaust and rouge CIA annoying on my last S in any way shape or form, on any length of journey. People have different tollerance levels and ideas of what's a good and "bad" sound.

Guess it goes with the age factor.....

I'm getting on a bit now. Started to listen to Radio 5 about a year ago. Be the bleeding Archers next.

How are Mo and Aiden going to fair...? Well, I guess when you get realllly old your hearing is one of the first things to go anyway......
