Will do just that.

In the meantime I will fit the Osram bulbs and let you know what I think.

It is lashing down here and I've just been out in the GP. The lights are useless, you can't even tell they are on. I so miss the Xenons.

I had a couple of close calls aswell. First I aquaplaned coming down a slip road, then I was pulling out of a round about in busy traffic the the bloody traction control kicked in killing all the power. I am glad to be home.

At least I'm not the only one with aquaplane issues on the GP!

GBMINI, Would one of your circuits have helped him with his traction issues? I really like my DSC being off all the time. I just flip the toggle when it starts raining. I almost killed my silly self a couple of times when my runflats wore out, but that was in my other MINI.

......haggle; haggle!!

Spoke to my dealer this morning. they appreciate that it has been done in Germany but are concerned that they do not have a scheme from BMW for such a conversion. If there is not an official scheme then there may be warranty issues! They say there would need to be some sort of re-wire involved too.

As for cost, the only comment was "expensive".

I reminded them that I had asked for these as an extra before delivery and they said that my car had already left the factory prior to my request. They are pretty good people so I accept that.

They will investigate anyway.

I can't comment on the Osram bulbs yet as I haven't fitted them yet, but I hear they are pretty effective.

Try them first like me? They are not expensive.

Cheers

I empathise totally with that! I had a particularly nasty experience a few weeks back. In tropical Storm like conditions with flooded roads ... and a cracked screen thanks to Mr Stobart!

Up to now though, you had not experienced the aquaplaning which now concerns me again. I have not experienced this yet but this worries me.

Is this an another argument for changing the tyres as Lorien has? Are the runflats just too inflexable for wet roads?

Somewhere here (I can't find it) there is a thread about carrying a spare in the boot, does anyone remember it? If this is a way forward I for one would change my tyres!

As for the lights, yes candles would be better in such conditions ... or a case for bringing back the man with a red flag in front of the car!!!!!

See my post to MGP on this.

Cheers

My car was late leaving the factory; If only I knew you could have asked for them to be fitted before hand -I would have asked!!
Would have co$t a lot less aswell.

Never Mind; Better Bulbs it is then.

Cheers.

Questions

Really cool, and I gather this one does the business, it has been mentioned that the JCW one is more cosmetic than anything else?

Are there warranty issues to consider though?

Did GTT fit it for you?

Nice LMB, thought your Dunlops were king Trust me i have the Michelins like Lorien, they are such an improvement its unreal, they dont put them on the new Carrera GT for nothing!!

Try Woodmans BMW for the xenon upgrade, he gave me a good deal on upgrading from the pre-facelift to facelift Xenons!!

Are you referring to me
Anyway, i've not driven the car in anger yet, that'll be this afternoon, so, can't comment on handling improvements yet.
As for fitting, i did it myself, took 5 mins, didn't have to mess around trying to line up the holes, it fitted perfectly

As for warranty, not sure, can't see what could be impacted by fitting the brace

I don't remember calling them Kings? Dunlop’s aren't bad, much better than the Pirelli Run flats. It was torrential rain last night, so I think regardless of what tyres you had on, if were going fast enough the potential was there to aquaplane. I saw a few people broken down on the side of the road and the thought of getting a puncture in those conditions made me glad to know I had run flats.
