Welcome to the party Metal Man.

I haven't heard a recent count of Monterey participants but I know that after the info broke that only eight folks had signed up quite a few more were added.

I'm still guessing about 20-25 cars will be delivered in Monterey.

BTW - I'm trying to work up some sort of bonnet and bumper protection for the GP for the drive home. I'm looking into temporary clear coverings like low-tac clear or static cling that will be easily removable later.

PM me if you're interested in details.

Clear contact shelf paper is a quick and easy "clear bra" for the ride home. A coat of wax, and two layers of shelf paper is what the owner of Concours Transport recommended to me....from any hardware/grocery store. Or you can get the 3M "helicopter tape" in rolls from Bill Morton Motorsports in CO...but that's pricy!

What if there was a professional installer at the track? Would you be interested as a GP owner to have the clear protective material applied there?

Does anyone know of anywhere in the UK where you can get the bonnet protectors? Sounds like a great idea.

You US guys had any news on your car numbers yet?

Nope. MINIUSA's silence is deafening!

As far as the clear bra for UK cars, I can't imagine that no one doesn't already offer this service in the UK. Just don't know what you might be calling it over there. Here's a US company that does it locally http://www.cleararmorinc.com/

No word on either production number, VIN, or roof number. But at least I see a $2k charge on my Amex.

Armorglove (http://www.armorglove.com) makes a fabulous clear bra, using similar but superior to 3M material to protect the paint. They can install almost anywhere.
Their template for an S was made on my car, and maybe the GP one will be also, but not untill Sept or Oct for me.

Yes, the nonrefundable Monterey trip is for the big spenders.

Do the Monterey sign-ups get to share in any of the Lime Rock activities? Or would they have to pay $800 as well to get in there?

Ian C. Gloucester, MA, USA (UK expat) driving GPMINI or a non-MINI!

Excellent question! Don't know the answer; but a guesstimate is that the events are "mutually exclusive" For the folks picking up in Monterey and doing the whole tour to Lime Rock, that's one for RA Events to answer.

There seems to be little evidence to indicate that MINI USA is footing the bill for any of this, except for the web site. Their disclaimer denying any involvement with MTTS is pretty clear, wish the description of the car was as well written.
Don't know if we will make it all the way. Depends on lots of factors out of our control. Also how the fun factor holds up. There are only so many parking lot cookouts I can stand.
