Also

Along with my production number I was asked to fill out a release form with the information of the GP owner and/or owner's representative who will be picking up the GP in Monterey. Also noted was info relating to paying for the car and the dealer is instructed to fax the purchase/sale order at least two weeks prior to pick up in Monterey so looks like we all need to have the GPs purchased and paid for around Aug.1st-ish. Also details about 30 day tags license plates etc. was sent to dealers so if you didn't hear from your dealer today contact them tomorrow for production numbers etc.

Baby steps.

That release authorization form is supposed to be filled out by the dealership, not the customer!

Well since my MA has already mistyped one address that almost borked my Monterey deposit I filled in the info myself so there was no chance of another screw-up.

There was nothing to sign, it was just name, address, phone # etc.

Letter has arrived at the dealer

Just got an email from the Dealer Rep for the Monterey GP Delivery. "The letter" is waiting for me. He'll fax it later in the AM.

Do we think this explains the "VIP" at Monterey?

Although Dale Jr has his own jet, I don't think he's gonna miss Friday's practice sessions at MIS to pick up the keys to his GP in Montery. Besides, why would he want to "downgrade" to just 230 hp when he's had "270" in his 2002 Mini-Maniaed MCS?

Yep, just as I thought. The sole purpose for the GP is to sell enough cars so that it can be raced on the NASCAR circuit.

First drag racing MINIs, now NASCAR GP's. Do I hear banjos in the background?

Jim Ray - Don't you always hear banjos in the background in Virginia?

Just a regional jab. I get it all the time being from Kansas. I just could't pass up a softball like that.

No problem with that remark. I did say that I have a one way truck reserved, didn't I?

That is my problem with MINI. They keep dealing out the straight lines, and I just can't resist finishing up a "Shave and a haircut--------".

For you coastal types it's somewhere in the middle of what you call "flyover land".
