Say hi to DB for me, he's a sweetheart. ![]() I believe all the Monterey spots are gone now, but only time will tell which of our opinions is the correct one. With a receipt time stamp of 3:09, I am confident that I will be one of the lucky ones in Monterey. So what is your time stamp?

One challenge facing MINIUSA on the Monterey delivery is that they will want at least some of the GPs to drive the MTTS tour. I think a lot of the people opting for Monterey would be from CA and unlikely to do MTTS.

Yes they have. My dealer showed me the bulletin that was sent to them by MINIUSA. The number of GP's depends on the dealer volume size. My dealership (MINI of Dallas) is one of the highest volume dealerships around so they are getting the max of 7. Other dealers get 5, 3, ... depending on where they rank. Based of 7, my dealer decided to sell the first 4 at $2k over MSRP and the remaining 3 at MSRP.

You know I saw that memo too which is why I thought I was fine being #6 on my dealer list because they are the largest volume dealer in the region putting them in the we're getting 7 category. Then I went to apply to go to Monterey and they almost wouldn't send my application in because they said they couldn't guarantee I'd even get a GP being #6. This all happened a mere few hours before the deadline for submissions on 5/4. Luckily the person in front of me cancelled as we were talking about it all and that put me at #5 thus easing their minds about submitting my application. My dealer continued to assert as of two days ago that they were not guaranteed any number of GPs at this point. I just gave up at that point and told them to turn in my application. I could just chalk all this up to a lack of communication or failure of certain folks at my dealer to read the memos. BTW - I've not received any confirmation that my application was received via e-mail. On top of that, my MA is out of the country for the next 10 days on a trip she won for being a top salesperson so that means I have to bug everyone else at the dealer for info come Monday morning. The whole thing is making me crazy. I just wish I could get a straight answer from someone that doesn't contradict the last answer I got. I've resigned myself to the fact that if for some wild reason I don't get to go to Monterey I'll still go to New Jersey. It's cheaper and not as far for me plus it's over a holiday weekend so that would mean less time off work. So what, 45 other GP owners have theirs for two more weeks than me. I can deal with that. I think... I *really* want to go to Monterey though.

As you know, we were severely waffling about it, and were stunned when they said $2,000 for Monterey pickup. What made that more of a shock for us was the first news from the dealer was that someone would be "Awarded" a trip to Monterey. Our dealer and us were thinking at lease hotel for the delivery night. We were just stunned at the cost. After thinking it over, I realized that I was too cheap to ever go to the Historic races, or the car show and pay for each event and hotels Ala Carte. At least with the up front charge Sherry won't have to listen to me beatch about $20 hot dogs while we are there. Good luck with your dealer. The one thing that our dealer said was that might give you hope. It is not the first on the list who gets the trip. It is who the dealer selects for the trip regardless of position, then MINI USA has a say in the selectees also. Good luck, it would be fun to have you along on MTTS. ![]()

| Monterey GP Delivery It probably will be some time before all the dust settles and the "West Coast 45" are identified. Jim's right. It's the dealer's choice as to who goes (more like "selected"---past tense) at this point. As for the number of cars, and the price, I think that's in a state of flux as well. My dealer told the MINI Area Rep. that he could sell 25 if they had the cars; some dealers will be lucky to sell 2 to 3, depending upon where they're located in the US and their sales volume. In any case, the GP Delivery package is a "value" especially if you consider the cost of shipping the car across the US, and then toss in all the stuff that's included ...and what it would cost you to buy it if you were doing the trip/events on your own. | Just to reiterate what people have already stated. The official MINI allocations show that the maximum number of GPs any dealership will get is seven (and they're the highest volume sellers) and the minimum is two.....irrespective of whether they could sell and/or have deposits for 25. Now if some of the smaller dealerships decline their allocation (for whatever reason) then maybe MINI will redistribute the allocations. |

gr8britwjh, I haven't seen any official MINI Sales publication (hell, I'd be happy to just see a brochure on the GP for the US) so I wasn't implying that the dealer would get 25 cars if other dealers sold less than their allotments. I was merely saying that my dealer has a list of 25 individuals who have said that they would purchase the car if it were available. Perhaps some of these also have their names on the GP lists at other dealers in the state
