Cool upgrade 210works?

Im looking to spend around £2000 on my 53 cooper s 210 works and after reading topics on this subject im still confused:confused. My works has standard suspension and brakes and runs on 17S Spokes, can anyone advise on the most effective upgrade for that amount of money thanks

I'd go to Roland and his outfit GT Tuning
http://www.gtt.uk.com/packages.asp

check out their JCW upgrades - starting from £754+vat Fitted

for the amount of money your talking about you can get JCW stage 1 and maybe stretch to stage 2 which adds a larger intercooler and intercooler spray system

To be fair, I reckon you'd be better off going for lighter wheels, non-runflat tyres and defo better brakes!

HI dangerousedave, I have the GTT210 and it is great. As far as bhp figures they should always be taken with a very large pinch of salt as there are so many variables involved, quality of fuel, engine temp, air temp, drivetrain losses, enthusiastic sales brochures etc. For me the upgrade was to make the car more fun and better to drive. If that is what you want you can't go wrong with Roland

I've upgraded my works 210 with

1. Alta Induction kit (better throttle response and more noise than the works box)
2. GRS Intercooler
3. GTT Manifold

Really quite quick now

My works 210 produced 195bhp at Superchips rolling road, and then consistantly 190bhp once it had warmed up.

This was when it was 100% stock jcw 210. Having said that it quite easily kept up with a GTT220 on the motorway coming back from last years bronté run performance wise very close.

Andy, I'm in the midst of fitting a GTT Intercooler and I'm eyeballing the manifold next. Did you do the manifold yourself?

We've been cuising through Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany last weekend with our MCSC and it kept just fine with a MCS WORKS. We even raced each other at the end of the weekend to see if there was really no difference in speed...

At a RollingRoad day at he beginning of the year an other MCS WORKS had 201hp at the crank. Our MCSC had 185hp on a different RR. I know, these numbers are worthless. A friend of mine has a RR and he has had numerous cars on it. Our MCSC was the only one he has had on there witch had more HP than he expected. strange part is that he drove our car a couple of weeks before he had it on the RR and he told me he didn't thought the car would have 170hp...

oh well...

Let us know how the car feels after the visit to the JCG!

cheers,
Peter

save your pennies go for one of GTT's options far better imho, GTT 2% crank pulley, GTT manifold, GTT works airbox conv and GTT intercooler, will be cheaper than the packege your getting from JCG and will produce more power

I went to Lohen to get the GTT manifold fitted, if I had a ramp i'd have probably done it myself its just access thats a pain manifolds. I do like the manifold but be warned it does increase the exhaust noise considerably especially when you put your foot down hard
