GP Scoop/Air Intake??............Or not......

Didn't know wether to post this In Faults & Fixes; As I don't know wether it's a fault yet, and there are more GP people lurking about here

Anyway I was cleaning off some dried on polish on my bumper, (yep still cleaning up after BMW ) and I was somewhat suprised to see my Intercooler cover through my scoop!

Is that how it is supposed to be?! Surley not, otherwise that would make the scoop ('R56- like) cosmetic Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question; but the air intake is just above the radiator, surley that's what the air is supposed to be going into............

Cheers; So it's normal then........saves me turning up at the dealer looking silly.

So unless The "inter"-cooler needs cooling from the outside, then scoop is cosmetic then isn't it?

The Air intake you see just above the radiator is taking in air from the front grille area and channeling it to your Airfilter. The Bonnet scoop is to allow air to flow over the intercooler - cooling compressed air (therefore making it denser) before it is fed into the engine block.

Okie Doke-Thanks for clearing that up.

I thought it must have been a GP thing What with all this talk about bigger intercoolers and all that.
