Scotland Mini GP Colour Coded new pics

Here are new pics of the car clean and colour coded.

I have also replaced the indicator bulbs with silver ones which takes away the nast orange you see through the lens. Also replaced the side lights with looks much better as there the same colour as the headlights instead of the dull standard lights.

Also would like comments about re spraying the alloys silver ?? Ive spent ages cleaning them and the matt black just wont stay clean. Also doesnt accept any sort of polish

Much Better Pics! Looks Awesome

I also see you colour coded the Lower Grille section of the front bumper.

I wouldn't touch the wheels, altough I think they would look great in Anthracite or All black.

I see on ebay you can get replica wheels which come in a polished black. They would take the polish and shine. This matt black effect i dont like but the wheel design is superb

Yes you can; But they aren't very good examples IMO.

I'll say it again...........nice, very nice!

P.S. Those eBay lookalikes will weigh a lot more than the lightweight GP wheels and the quality won't be in the same league either. They're probably supplied with M12 wheelbolts to fit other Mini's and probably wont fit with the GP's M14 wheelbolts without machining.

I was just mentioning the polished black finish these ebay wheels have. Im obviously not going to put cheap ass quality wheels on a car worth over 22k!!

What i fancy doing is getting the same wheels painted silver like normal alloys still keeping the chrome bit or getting the wheels lacquered so that the black is shiny and smooth thus applying polish to keep clean

Glad to hear it! For a minute you had me worried!

The 'chrome bit' you mention is machined aluminium which is lacquered to protect it from corroding. You may find that the satin or matt black finish to the rest of the wheels is lacquered also but with a matt finish. Hence it's not obviously lacquered. The reason I suggest this is because it would be much easier to lacquer the whole wheel when it's being manufactured rather than mask up and just spray the machined highlights. I may be wrong but suggest this from a manufacturing viewpoint only. Might be a good idea to take the car to a wheel refinishing specialist, seek their advice and see what options are available.

I'll be curious to hear what they say because I don't like the matt black finish either!

Great results, car looks much more 'finished'. Would probably have kept the front bumpsr standard though.

One thing though, it makes the wheels look inadequatly small.... which is odd. Lowering may help....

I would not change anything you have done, except maybe...... send those pics along to Mini headquarters and ask is they can send out 1999 new trim pieces to match, tell them you think it looks good and everyone GP should be color coded. I will be looking for the next big package that comes in the mail.

I've been GP'd

Like most of the colour coding but i think its a bit over the top doing the front bumper grille & lower spoiler + you should have got the side marker/reflectors colour coded.
I was thinking about having it done but only the wheel arches and the trim on the rear bumper.
