I mean the actual paint colour used on the body of the GP, thunder blue rather than anthracite. I was very tempted to do it to a set of S spokes for the winter months

Wheels arrived

Some great service form Alex@thetirerack, had the wheels in a couple of days form the states , shipping was okay but got stung on the import duty

i gotta sort out tyres now, 205/45/17's are proving to be a pain to hunt down, looks like i'll be ending up with some sort of Pirelli

Wheels fited...found out that the offset is 2mm out so theres a bit of rubbing when going over bumps, hankfull i have no rear passengers Can i shave off some of the plastic trim from behing the wheel arch to help this???

I prefer the original wheels so as soon as the track day is over i'll be throwing back on the originals.....i should have just bought the team dynamics wheels

Heres some pics, some better ones to follow after i give her a good wash

What wheels did I suggest?

I did think it was a bit silly going for black OZ's, as you dont notice the design of an all black wheel that much. But theyre still tasty as mate, and they'll do the job.

What tyres did you plump for in the end?

Just went out for a quick test,
they are a lot smoother on the road but theres still a lot of road noise from the tyres and they rub over the ramps . They are the only 2 faults i have for the setup.
Ramps and bumps in the road are alot less harsh now, a big big difference.
Handling wise its sill hard to tell but it did seem to hold the road a bit better around some corners and it was wet outside, but there is definitley more grip form them Also i turned off the dsc and the lsd didnt kick in as much....should be good for track days so

A set of TD Pro race 1.2's in Anthracite arrived here at 06:45 AM this morning.
Weather is too crappy tonight to even think about fitting them though
they do look pretty cool stacked up in the lounge though

When you need to change these tyres, you might consider trying a set of 215/40/17 tyres. They will give you a bit more grip, will make the car accelerate a little quicker as they have a slightly smaller rolling radius, you'll get more tyre choice, and there cheaper than the 205/45/17 as well.

JCW wheels & Falken 452

It seems to have been a delivery day for GP wheels and tyres
Here are my second set - Standard GP wheels, JCW centre caps and Falken 452 tyres 215/35/18 ZR
I want to keep the 'essence of GP' so went for the standard wheels

Yes you can get 4 wheels in a GP - they will not fit under the cross bar so it is 2 laying down and 2 stood up with protection between them to prevent scratches and interior trim damage.
The white box acting as a chock is BMW tyre goo.

Should get them fitted in the next couple of weeks

I ordered my TD's originally for my previous 'S' in 2005, last week they finally arrived. Apparently it took them a while to figure out who had ordered them, but they were honest and spent time looking for me and as I'd paid a deposit they said they would honour the original price and deliver and fit for free so it was a no brainer really. Very much looking to get these on the car and wearing them out so I can put some hairy miles on the car without worrying too much about kerbings or all that stuff too much
