Anyone looked at fitting rear seats to a GP?

I am thinking of fitting rear seats to my GP. Looked at RealOEM.com looks as if I need rear lateral panels (from a Mini breakers), a seat (pref JCW Panther black) and seat belts. Someone converted a standard S to a GP look-a-like (the Astro black one sold on Ebay) so it must be possible to go the other way. Also the body is a standard S shell so must have mounting points.

Always thought that some of the mounting brackets & fittings were missing?
Did they not get rid of some of the weight by removing all the unecessary add-ons to the shells?

There was something about this in a previous thread.... need to find it.....

Mikeys had a few of these in pieces so he might be the man to ask.

Its a very difficult job and the only way to get through it is we all work together as a team.....

The bodies were unique having had several bits of metal in the back that the seats and belts would need deliberately omitted. So those bits would have to be put back which would involve some welding I think

Anything is possible if you are willing to spend the money. i'd have a GP if it had rear seats, for sure.

You also need all the other interior bits - those red panels at the back would have to go and youd need all the other interior parts.

Goonery is right, it would need some welding, and it would have to be a top quality job otherwise the seats wont fit properly and you have loads of rattles, potentially.

Three grand should do it I rekon. Dont beleive anyone that says its not possible.

It makes more sence to fit rear seats to the GP than it ever did to remove them in the first place.....

"I know, rather than spend serious design money giving the GP some weight saving, such as Carbon Fibre bonnet, roof, hatch or lightweight perspex glass..... why dont we just take the rear seats out? After all, although its a perfectly good 4 seater car, of course people will buy it with 2 seats missing, because we'll say its 'special'...."

Seriously, if the guy wants 4 seats, then he should have them. After all, if he really wanted a 2 seat car, he should probably have bought a proper 2 seat car.....

Now what would be moire daft is taking the rear seats out of a 4 seat car just because someones got a completely useless Works GP bar to replace them with...

Build the car Griffer. Then, of you no longer have need for it in a few months time, You know at least one person that would buy it off you.... that would be me then....
