£295

Number Plates and Private Plates.

Not bad for the price.

There is also M1 OGP (M10 GP) available for £490 on the DVLA site if you're prepared to mess with the spacing....There are loads of ** OGP plates around if you're happy to move the O next to the numbers to make it look like a zero.

Thanks (Si?) - thats on my list (great minds...), and not bad for the price as you say.

If you think outside the box there are some great ones on there, but they've also thought outside the box with the prices!!

Whos got no. 1176 - 'GP 1176' is on there for £2,755!

'Great minds think alike' or, more likely, 'fools seldom differ'.

I think you'll find the prices are calculated with Doctors (General Practioners) salaries in mind!

There is actually a very good reason for correct number plate spacing (not just someones whim or to keep it easy for the speed cameras to read), so its to everyones benefit to keep to this. MINI owners in general in my area seem to do a good job of keeping to correct spacing, unlike some of the shocking ones you see around!

OK, there may be a very good reason - and this is just a personal gripe ...

why did the police on that stretch not stop any of the other cars with worse number plates who passed them in front of me? When I lived down South I reported a potential break in at one of my neighbours.. the police told me to go in to the house and check all was ok then close the door... they wouldnt come out yet 2 days later they sent someone from a town 20 miles away to come and knock on my door to tell me about a problem with my number plate. I have had police follow me when I got lost on way to a hotel and stop me .. however the guy did get a shock when I stuck my head out and asked for directions (think he was expecting a boy racer - not a middle aged woman !). When I first got the GP and didnt even have the new number plate on I was followed all the way from the m4 on the m25 to my house about 20 miles away just so the policeman could chat about the car - this is what I mean by a magnet!!

I just think that if its a rule for one its a rule for all and the photos that were taken were not just of the plate - they were of the sides of my car as well!

Gripe over - I am now back in my box with my 5th set of number plates which this time will hopefully make everyone happy

Thats unacceptable but in fairness, the officers who stopped you will have been traffic officers. Thats their job. They don't deal with break-ins. And they can only stop and deal with one car at a time!
I have driven with mis-spaced plates myself so i'm not getting on my high horse but when I did get pulled, I just accepted it and paid the fine. After all, it was my own fault

! no I phoned the suspected breaking to 999 it was my neighbours house

and yes, they can only deal with one car at a time.. shame they let the cars with the bad numberplates overtake them, then they saw me and pulled across from the slow lane to the fast to pull me over (and no I wasn't speeding )

My dad was in the force, not having a go at police specifically just want one rule for all and less targetting of me also for them to take potential breakins more seriously than sending a woman to see if the burgular was still in the house!!

I wasn't having a dig! I think the point i was trying to make to everyone was, if you're going to knowingly draw attention to yourself by mis-spacing the number plate on an already conspicuous car don't be upset/surprised when you eventually get pulled for it! Cos you will! Other offenders are irrelevant. Their day will come

The argument about there being plenty of other mis-spaced plates on the road is similar to a burglar saying "well my all my other burglar mates keep getting away with it, why you picking on me??"

I'd still have my plate mis-spaced now if i didn't already have 'two strikes'. The spacing on mine wasn't too bad, but then there are no 'degrees of legality'. It's not like an italic plate, or a plate with loads of dodgy bolts modifying the letters is judged to be 'worse' than one that is simply mis-spaced, it's either a legal plate, or it's not!

Personally I think as long as the space between the letters doesn't fall below the legal minimum, you should be allowed to space the digits however you like! I mean, what's the problem?

I must be missing something here, why did you get a pull for GP 06 NUT, it seems a perfectly legal plate to me!

To be legal it should read GP06 NUT.

I have the same potential issue with mine GP 06 ALS as it should read GP06 ALS.

They are getting very picky with spacing and rightly so with some of the ones I have seen recently.

In Italy
