Australia JCW stuttering, engine light on!

Hi there, so, Cooper JCW R53, had it now for, oh, about 72 hours! Drove from Melbourne to canberra, started next morning and noticed the engine warning light is on, drove off to see how it drove. A lot of stuttering, especially above 3000rpm. Not a lot of power there. So stopped, turned the engine off, and started again, hoping that by some miracle I'd just imagined all of this and the light wouldn't be on, it was still there, and car wasn't driving too well. I'd describe it as a 'miss' in the engine. there is also an audible sound for about 5 seconds when I start the engine, then stops. This may be a service indicator, but not sure.

Deffinately not mechanically minded, any ideas???

Hi ya

First thing you need to do is download the fault code from the DMC (cars computer)
Then it will give you a code and we can go from there.
It sounds like the supercharger bypass valve might be a broken spring, but like I say it could be anything you need the fault code.
If you are Member of a motoring organisation that do recovery or home start call them out they will plug there computer in and tell you what it is write it all down or get a print out, unless you can get access to a reader if a mate has one
Then we can help you try sort things out

Sorry I can't be more helpfull

Thanks for all the information. Took the car to my trusted BMW after- market mechanic today( not the extortionist BMW dealer). They plugged it into the computer, turns out it's the second cylinder, and needs a new coil? The job card mentioned spring valve, pretty sure this is the same thing.
Part is coming over night from BMW and apparently will be a half hour job! So should be done for around $200AUD. Sending the invoice the the car dealer I bought it from in Melbourne.

Ill upload a picture of my car shortly, working from an iPad so need to pull across from my PC.

Don't suppose you know a good place to get accessories from? Thinking about some black jack mirror covers and silver racing stripes, prefer not to use the mini garage in Canberra, any good online stores?

Hi ya

Havea look at these links may be some help, eBay is good for a deal now and again for mirror covers
I bought my self a diagnostic too,l so I did Not have o go to the dealer, some thing like a scan gauge II or a lazer 5091 or similar well worth it you only have to use it once or twice and it paid for it's self :-)

Anyway hope you get it sorted out, Let us know if you need any help. some here will be able to help or advise you
