| i wouldnt say it gets worse...its not much louder (difficult to tell really)...but it is faster. at idle i reckon its something like 5-10 ticks a second and that rises proportionatly with revs. after reading that thread i'm 95% certain its the harmonic dampner that keeps being mentioned...i assume thats not dangerous to drive for 50 or so miles over the next few days? |

| I had the same problem (01 mini cooper), ticking noise, got faster when engine speed is up, but not really louder. I found out what it was, on my car the wheel that the belt drives underneath the alternator, was shaking a bit. The noise is gone now, because the wheel broke off and fell out from underneath my car yesterday while driving. Needless to say its going to the garage today... |
