Is this the 2007 Mini?

Hi all,

You guys are usually way ahead of me on these types of queries! - Have you seen these photos? They reckon it's the 2007 car. The mirrors look enormous...

There are 3 models in this article - Works GP, Traveller and mew Mini. I'd seen the photos of the Works GP and the Traveller, just not the other one....

Well, the car with the wing on the back is a proto JCW GP Car.
The estate version is probably the traveller proto, but I have not seen the picture of the Cooper with the spot lights on the roof before.
Going by the article on MotoringFile last week with the AutoArt diecast model website showing a photo of the 2007 Cooper - I would say, that is the new 2007 Cooper!!!

thats an interesting shot of the cooper - by laying the headlights flatter on the bonnet they actually look rounder head-on.

also i notice its being driven by a couple of people from 'reader's wives'

Something about that front pic isn't quite right to me - the space between the chrome bars of the grille is too black, the MINI badge is blatently Photoshopped and the lines and shading on the headlights doesn't look quite right.

The lights on the back are even worse

Yeah it can be seen on the pic with the larger rear foglight too. Looks like spy shots and they've tried to remove some of the covered up parts of the car.

One of the other shots clearly shows riveted on covers over the headlights to disguise the real look underneath and bits of the grill covered up too. Why would they go to that trouble and then drive one out undisguised for everyone to see?

It was acceptable in the 80's

Arent the windscreen wipers supposed to be hidden under the bonnet? This looks like a hybrid between the current and the new model. Anyway - if this pic has any relation with the new model I am slightly worried about the shape and position of these lights. They look OK from the front - from the side, I hope they're nothing like the ones on the Traveller concept. Funny how a small feature can make or break the look for some people!

flat earthers

if it had come out 4 years ago with those flatter lights & was changing now to the more upright ones you'd be saying exactly the same but in reverse

I'm amazed at how a car can look so similar to the current one, yet still look so much more ordinary.

I think the lack of headlamp cowels in the bonnet pressing is a real backwards step, it looks so much more like every other car on the road; I don't like the loss of the curved rear glass either.

I know it has to change and I'd like to see it evolve, but it just looks like a cheap and unimaginative facelift to me

Tigger.

I'm back!! AND I'm not going to be intimidated!
