2 ways of looking at it - I have spent € 50k on my current car as it stands - thats with JCW and a big spec - other way is look at a GP at €42ish? Add some spec, nav, etc and you will definitely be heading towards 50k again - remember the Worls R56 will have a body kit, seats, wheels, suspension, brakes etc - look at the cost of Sports Pack add ons on 3 and 5 series - they are iro 6kish if I recall correctly.

Either way, I think it will have to be way higher than the price of a GP, due to the different spec and that fully loaded Works R53s always cost more than the relative bargain the GP is

No ways, that is way too expensive for a MINI. IMHO

It should be cheaper than a GP due to it not being a limited edition.
Should a MINI be more expensive than a 130i Sport?
Due to all the JCW parts being installed at the factory should make it cheaper than adding them on afterwards.

Aiden, if you are correct then I will have to cancel my order and opt for Golf R32 or 130i Sport.

I am very excited about the new JCW but I am very confused if I should get the new MCS for a year and then upgrade to the JCW when it come out or keep my current MCS 05 until the new JCW arrives??

When I think about it I should have gotten the GTI last year and waited for the new JCW, oh well.

MINI, it is a way of life.

Hey, I'm only speculating - depending on spec, you may be able to get it at a lower price - also rember I'm working off the base of Irish market prices which are extremely high

But, also bear in mind that many went for the GP cos it was a relative bargain for a JCW car - thats likely not to be repeated, the bargain price I mean, when the new model is launched, again, only my opinion and thoughts

I think yhou should hold onto your 05 till mid next year I'll be holding my 04 till then

Besides the increase in HP what other mechanical upgrades would the Works likely incorporate (uprated brakes, suspension?)

I'm one of those who went for the bargain. US Spec GP's worked out to circa $5 to $6K US cheaper than a kitted out Works car. I don't think we'll see another deal like that one until the Gen 3 MINI, if at all. Which is why I went for it. The price is also a prime reason I didn't hold on to my 04 until the Clubman/Traveller arrives. I'm hoping to see/own a JCW AWD, please version of that.

Brakes, suspension, wheels, bodykit, and seats I believe, possibly plus anthracite headlining, and maybe a few other sporty touches........

I agree.

II am starting to get interested in the new JCW. If it comes fully loaded though you'll be knocking on £27 - £28K.

I reckon it will bee a little less than that. The GP was a bargain because it was all factory and you did not have to raid the dealer options to add aero kits/wheels and pay dealer prices for the suspension. Those of us that paid £27k for a Works did it because we over optioned the car TBH.
If the new one is a full factory model it will have to be competetive with the AstraVXR/ golf GTi/ Focus ST etc.....However I am sure it will still be possible to spec a car ashigh as you want to go. My guess is that the base car will be £20k tops. Only a guess mind.

We're seeing lots of £20k+ R56s being specced at the mo and a few iro £23k - it definitely will be easy to have a £30k JCW

£20k would be a pleasant surprise - I think it will be higher though

I just cant see how they can charge more for a MINI than a Golf GTi....remembr I am talking base price not specced up price...It is up to individuals if they want to spec up the car to £30k...I mean £700 to have TV in the car....

Probably at the risk of a flaming I actually think that the R56 is getting a tad pricey. Cooper S plus chili and metallic paint is £19k, that is before raiding any other options....not that it will stop me getting one of course...

I see what you mean - they are getting pricey, even though the base price isn't that much higher than of old. The options, cos there is such a vast selection of them now, will drive the price higher.

Agree entirely. I put my R56 spec in the old online configurator and it was just over £1k cheaper than my R56 spec

Trouble is I can't find anything I want to take off the options list

You could be on to something there Kev.

I recently drove the 330d and 335d back-to-back, and that extra turbo makes a whole heap of difference. Turns a great car into an awesome one (I urge everyone to book a 335d test drive tomorrow morning!)

With VW recently putting the Turbo- and Super-charged Golf on the road, there is obviously big competition ahead for the new JCW!
