R56 Works Info, Discussion, Banter and Pre-orders.

So as there is yet to be an R56 Works Forum I thought I'd start up a new thread detailing all the information that comes out about the R56 Works car and Works accessories, the latest pictures, create an area where we can all talk about the Works versions of the R56 MINI and the Works accessories and display a list of those who have pre-ordered an R56 Works.

Now open for posting

It may take me a while and mutiple posts to get the info up so bear with me. In the mean time select thread tools and subscribe to this thread.

OK guys that's your lot. For those of you who posted in between my pictures you have been sent PM's kindly asking you to remove your posts You can repost these now if you wish as this thread is now open.

I really like all the JCW items with exception of the mats (why the checkers?) and the rear wing. Much prefer the current aero wing.

I suspect I will pick up a year old R56 and add the Works kit to it. Depends on how much I would save though, may not be worth it if the residuals are anything like the current car.

Oops sorry. Post deleted.

Back on topic.......Rakes just told me you won't be able to add the kit. It is going to be a separate model.

Would like to think they will make the JCW unique so that is different from the MCS with aero kit.
Otherwise it will be difficult to justify a premium otherwise as you will be sure to get mods for extra power on aftermarket.

It will have the JCW badging and the JCW wing appears to be different to the wing that was on the aerokit at the Paris Motorshow.

I think the thing JCW will have in there favour is driveability. It's going to be easy for an aftermarket company to slap a big turbo on the car and get 300BHP. However it will then introduce lag which those who have driven the R56 say it doesn't suffer from. I think the JCW version will be similar in power to the outgoing model but will suffer little or no lag like the the MCS possibly just having a bigger version of the same turbo system already fitted to it. I think most aftermarket will go with a higher pressure conventional turbo, producing bigger power but losing driveability due to the lag introduced.

I am on the list for a JCW, but will only go for one if it is a distinct model rather than an MCS with a kit.
I doubt I would waste my money on a kit option again given the way the residuals are on the current car.
If no pukka JCW is forthcoming from the factory I will then make a decision weather I go for an MCS or not.
