Special Editions...

Does anyone know if there are special editions in the pipeline like the Park Lane and Checkmate for the R56?

After reading further down the page, it doesn't actually answer if anyone knows if there are poss Edtions that may come through.
I really like the Park Lane, and I would probably wait for a new R56 if there was a chance that something like that would come along in the next year

i would be surprised if they don't do the special editions, it's very much a mini-thing to have special edition designs, although i expect they'll be different designs from the ones that have gone before. however, i also think it might be longer than a year - they should wait for the initial rush of sales for the R56 to die down before putting out a special edition to attract more sales

I thought special editions were an end of product sign-off. To make some special versions before the new model starts production.

We discussed this the other week with Marcus, I'd expect there will be special editions, as they are something that we (MINI owners) like. We expressed our feelings towards something unique, something that is more than a paint colour and decals, something as stunning as the mini 30 or the British Open, cars that were special

But we also need to realise that the Parklane and Checkmate were done for a reason, the end of the production of a model, a way to stockpile cars and make them all the same, so that as production swapped over sales could continue

Very true, I wonder if there are any other models coming to an end say in the next couple years
