Question New MINI R56 Diesel

So who is going to be the first to order the Derv when it comes out approx next April?
I believe there will be 2 versions, obviously the Cooper D the more powerful

Definitely, I'd like solid proof it will be the HDi engine going in it though, and which specification.

I used to have a Xsara powered by the 2.0 HDi and it was by far the best engine I've ever owned.

HDi's also tune well without compromising efficiency.

Not for me, i'll have to wait till october '07 to think about it.
All the stuff i've read say just one version...90bhp and 110bhp?

There has still been nothing official announced by MINI about the new diesel, but I'm pretty sure the whole dealer network are hoping for a One D and a (more powerful) Cooper D (and, if I get what I want for Xmas, a Golf GT TDi beating 150bhp+ Cooper S D! )

Because of the uncertainty (and much shorter lead times now) there are unlikely to be many forward orders at this stage, although enquiry levels are fairly high.

Personally, I've only got one 'order' for the new One D from a Driving School.

The dealer was suggesting today there will be 2 variants, I think a sprev mentioned it will be 90/110 engines, remap the 110 to 130/140 at a push?

I am test driving the Cooper next Saturday and if I like the platform may wait for the Derv, but I will have to weigh up the extra costfor the Derv to be paid off with the amount of miles i'll be doing!

I really hope that MINI can see that they are missing out on a major sector and put out a 130+ to compete with some of the VW based cars.

What about an Automatic Diesel to compete with all those VW / Audi / Seat DSG 140Bhp shifters?

They are amazing to drive!

I'm definitely interested in a Cooper D! I have a Pug 306 2.0 HDi at the moment and very much like the fuel efficiency it offers and it also has a bit of poke (90bhp). I would really like to get a new R56 Cooper right now, but I would be scared of the extra fuel costs in comparison to my 306....

I've tested the 207 1.6 HDi (110bhp) and it feels great to drive (almost ordered a GT HDi a few months ago just after its launch!) although it obviously lacks the fun'ness and character that is offered by MINI.. I want my next car to be a bit.. different.

Roll on some more R56 D info from MINI HQ!

Yeah, don't forget though to weigh up that Derv is 5p more per litre than petty and the derv will be a higher otr price than that of the petrol variants?
