Offline | Mini 5 door? I'm a new member here and happy(ish) mini one owner - great drive, but so many problems... see my post in faults & fixes... Anyway I'm getting to that age where a family may be on the not too far distant horizon and even though my mini has the isofix thingies in the back, it would be mighty handy to have actual doors in the back. A while back AutoCar (or one of them anyway) had a picture of a 5 door mini with a slightly longer wheel base that was gorgeous. Anyone heard any rumours of whether this will definitely go into production and when? I might be tempted to start a family round it ![]() Cheers, Simon In sunny Manchester... |

Offline | There was an article in autoexpress a couple of weeks ago showing an artists impression of the five door and I have heard rumours that they are going to release a concept for a MINI with extra space (5 door basically!) and the MINI roadster at the october Motor show in Birmingham ( Paris first in september) whether they will or not, we'll have to wait and see! Offline | Simon, any chance of a scan of the 5 door MINI ? I'm vaugely interested as I have 1 sprog and onother on the way, but don't want to compromise the driving experience. I have only heard rumors so far. A cabrio seems more certain. Easier to get the kids in with the top down but not really a vialble option in Manchester. P.S. 'ows ' weather in Manchester? d' y' mean sunshine thats grey n wet? or did y actually see the yella thing? ..... miss the pennines though ![]() |

Offline | Sorry, I chucked the magazine away ages ago FWIW it looked great, but I 'think' it won't give the same driving experience as the standard mini by virtue of it being longer wheel base, but who knows....My wife drives a Mazda MX5 and even in Manchester we get the roof down quite a lot, so I'd be happy with a cabrio mini even here!! It doesn't have to be hot to have the roof down, just not raining.... mind you even if it's raining a bit, as long as you keep moving, the wind over the top drags the rain drops away. Cheers, Simon In sunny Manchester.. and yes, it was sunny last time I posted, it's also sunny today, just had lunch outside a local bar - got to take advantage of the sun when you see it here!! |

Offline | My wife bought a Mercedes SLK230 back in February. First weekend, although it was below 40f (5c) we did a 100 mile round trip with the top down ![]() Just turn the heat up to max, and keep the windows up to minimize cold breezes! She thinks it is great ... handles almost as well as my MINI Cooper too! |

Offline | That's what I like to hear. You were either born there or have been there long enough to pick up the right attitude Make me home sick thinking about it. Sigh.I think I must have gone soft when I move to the south coast (didn't stay there long though). Well I'll just have to keep my eyes open for future pics of the 5 door. |

Offline | Actually I have only been living in the UK 'full' time for about the last 6 years. I was born in Zambia, lived there till I was an early teen, then Ghana, then Indonesia/Australia, then Bolton..... working in Manchester, but my job takes me to Egypt twice a year for a few weeks..... so you could say I'm a little more used to warm weather ![]() The weather here gets me down that's for sure, but my job will hopefully allow me to go back to Africa full time for a while in a few years or so. All my family are British so the UK is my real home, but Africa is where my heart is and where I want to return time and time again. In the mean time when the sun is out, the soft top comes down in my wife's car and the heater goes on high to soak some rays no matter the season..... and when the sun isn't out, I'm in my Mini just having fun ![]() If you want the right attitude speak to my uncle, he's out in his old original MG roadster with full length tonneau cover and the roof down no matter what the weather!!! Now that's attitude!! Cheers, Simon In cloudy Manchester... |
