When is the R56 Conv. release date?

As the title says really....

Looking to buy a new Mini for my other half (as a surprise), and am really tempted buy the Convertible, but wantto find out when the new shape convertible is due to be released?

There is no official release date but I think that it will be around 2009.
It was acceptable in the 80's
