Comes back to that question though, if its built outside the UK, say in Austria or USA where rumours pointed to last time, will it still be a MINI? As surely part of the MINI brand heritage is the UK origin?

Minis were made all over the place previously, so no real reason why the new car cant be as well.
I wonder how much it matters to people where any car is built these days.

I suspect it might to some, didn't bother me that mine was put together in Italy though as I knew it was still a MINI design.

It might bother people more though if its a share platform with say the new X1 or something other than a MINI, that might be more of a bother to people?

Anything shared with BMW would be talked up as being a good thing, BMW engineering and all that... Could win more people than it would put off. An soft roader is hardly traditional MINI ground, and I as they will be looking for new customers more than keeping current ones I don't think they'd be worried.

Probably those who like the "slightly higher with a bit of plastic around the lower sections makes it an all purpose vehicle" type of vehicles.

Not me, as you might have guessed.

you mean a vehicle like this? . i photoshopped a clubman and beefed it up a little , if BMW cant be bothered engineer the 'suicide ' door for LHD and RHD markets i cant imagine BMW investing in an all new model ( just yet) and doing much more than this .

To be honest im glad (as are 5,000 other people) that the SAV wont be built in Oxford, we just cant cope with any more cars, we build 51 cars an hour and that is way too much, it is hard work. When we drop the 52 it might become easier but at the moment regally getting 51 of the most individual cars to run off the line is tough

It's been pretty obvious, given the format of the production line, that this was going to be the case. As you should know as well as anyone here, it's not really built for four or more body types!

well yes! Im pretty sure any new models coming along wont be built in Oxford either! unless its a cooper or 'S' itll be somewhere else, possibly abroad! BMW have just spent alot of money changing the line for the Clubman and to be honest i think its a waste of money........The clubman will never be popular!

I have a feeling that in distant future the one will be built abroad somewhere (It seems at the moment it maybe India). Thank god the Cooper and S cant be built anywhere else than the Great British Isles else im sure BMW would screw us english workers

A lot of the parts for the MINI are shipped in from different countries aren't they so not reayy a full English car, would of been nice though to keep it British built...
