Hmmm.... Does the John Cooper "build in britain" agreement mean that the SAV won't be allowed to wear a "Cooper" badge?

When did anyone from BMW or MINI mention this "build in Britain" agreement? BMW own the MINI Cooper name, they can build it where they like. Remember the MINI Cooper S with John Cooper Works GP Tuning Kit? Final assembly in Italy.

At lest part of it was made in Oxford

Oxford is building to many as it is, There just isn't the space. So would be a good thing relay to build it out of Oxford, From what i have heard there as rumors about moving some of the MINI work to BMW's Spartanburg plant !

Funny how when the Cowley site was a Rover factory the workers were complaining that they were having to build products that nobody wanted. Now they have a product that is in high demand they are hoping that some get shipped abroad. Surely they would rather BMW invest in the current factory to be able to up production than to ship production out?!

Unfortunately the Cowley site just isn't big enough to cope with modern production.

BMW invested £100million back in 2005, and when they have other plants elsewhere that can take the work easily, it does make sense to move production elsewhere. This will help keep production costs low.

Not sure where they plucked that name from, first time I've heard it mentioned though.

I think it originated with AutoExpress. So give that the weight it deserves.

I can't see the point in it either. A mini says to me, tight handling funcar. An SUV? umm noo.

When I was young I spent 75% of my money on fast cars, women and alcohol. I guess I wasted the rest.
