Actually, in convertible form I don't have any real objection to the new shape, even though I loathe the R56's external appearance. Would still rather have the outgoing model, though.

Still no chrome fuel cap on the S model.

Interesting to see a slatted grille on an S (or is it a photoshop?)

can't understand why they still have the back lights still taped up - it's not like we don't know what they look like or what the car is

Also interested in the MINI Crossman article which is linked to from that page.

Dressing the MINI up in a yellow box does nothing for its image.

I don't think it's photoshopped Martin - we saw it testing during a trip to the Ring last September, although the one in my pics looks like it might have the honeycomb grill

p.s. ignore the Micra (sorry Minnie )

It has the factory aero kit -- notice the bumpers. The factory aero kit includes a slatted grille.

It looks haven't won me over either but I shall no doubt still get the new MCS Convertible when it comes out and at least enjoy the new fuel economy!

Mine will be three years old by 2009 and I'd worry about the dodgy roof out of warranty.

Only 3 years - what's to worry? Mine will be at least 4 1/2 years old. But I see no reason to change her until the new model eventually comes out. I still don't understand why it's taking so long - especially as the roof looks remarkably similar to the current mechanism...

The pictures in this thread suggest not even a facelift in the pipeline? I'm minded that the Cabrio came with a mild facelfit last time round......

Ian

And how many replacements canvas roofs have you have under warranty? I'm still on my first but it's my second car and gets only light/leisure usage. At £2k a pop I'd not like to have to stump up for a new roof. So as it's problematic I'd rather run the car under warranty.

My point was that I would wait until the new model as well, but as mine is a March 06 it should fall in nicely with the new ones release, I hope.

Can anyone else confirm this, as I've never (in the flesh or in photos) seen an R56 S sporting a slatted grille?
