Offline | MINI Metro It's fashionable now to knock the Austin Metro (and MG variants), but when it was introduced in 1980 it was for that time an excellent small car. I should know, I had 5 of them over the years and they were economical, reliable, and quite sporty cars. More than ONE MILLION were made so they can't have been bad. There is a web site devoted to the car: austinminiMetro.co.uk - A British car to beat the world Actually MINI METRO would not be a bad name for a version of the present MINI, but maybe BMW don't own the name Metro, I should imagine it went to the Chinese with the MG Rover sale. I know they got the Austin name, as they are considering using that name for domestic models in the Far East. |
