Good thinking - just do 50 of them in Gold!

It would be class if you got a Radio controlled 1/10 scale version of the Mini with it.

Would if they will make a few gold plated Minis, like other car manufactures have, But i don't think I could afford one of those.

I had a Cooper 35 too - by the end of my 6 years with it, it'd done almost 120,000 miles and had a lovely race-prepped engine and tweaked suspension. Noisy, uncomfortable, unreliable as hell, but good fun.

MINI UK are clearly positioning the John Cooper Works to be the performance MINI, so I'd expect any "50" model to be based on the ONE (or *maybe* the Cooper).

How would *I* do it? Make it as retro as possible without making too many changes from the standard. Lounge leather seats with coloured piping always look retro to me, so I'd start with that, probably with an exclusive 50 retro colour (like sky blue - MINI had a couple of R50s like that IIRC), and a colour-line or interior trim that was both exclusive and retro too.

Hard to cue too much more off the original car, though - nobody would want slidy windows or dodgy heaters nowadays.

Like you idea of using the lounge leather, red would be a nice retro colour to have them in, or cream with red piping

the problem these days it that it'll have to meet costing requirements & be able to put down the same line as the main cars, so i'd only really expect something like the Seven/ Parklane & Checkmate with an exclusive colour & maybe some trim changes

I'd like to see an "Ultra" Limited edition in tiny (50 would be a good choice! )numbers and then a more "Mass Market" version like the previous SE cars which could slot in with normal production. Rover didn't bother with too much custom work for the anniversary models either just colour/trim variations and a few badges but the limited production runs kept them desirable.

Red Leather seats & pepper white paint sound good.
Any lettering in Gold.

Red leather and creamy white, always a classic combination. I's love to see that

Would love to see something in one of the classic colours - in limited numbers like the MINI 40. (oh how I wish I had bought one of those.........)

Its a very difficult job and the only way to get through it is we all work together as a team.....

Maybe they could join up with a designer, say Paul Smith to design the ltd edition.

People forget now that the cars were not called Minis when introduced in 1959, those sold through Austin dealers were AUSTIN SE7ENS and through Morris dealers MORRIS MINI-MINORS, meaning a mini-sized MORRIS MINOR. It was some time later when they were just referred to as Minis and it must have been at least 30 years later when MINI became a brand on its own...I'm sure some of you will advise accordingly.

So can someone work out when the 25th Anniversary of MINI being a stand-alone brand will be, or has that date passed already?

The 25th was in 1984, it was silver with red decals. I've got LTD mug and the corgi model to match.
