Should we expect to see a MINI 50 Limited edition next year? Traditionally Mini marked significant year milestones with a special edition 25, 30, 35 and 40 and it would seem likely that the current marketing dept. would want to use some of the Mini history to sell a few extra cars!
The Cooper 35 (1996 production) was a great model IMO... but I'm a bit biased as it was my first car Regretted selling it and end up buying another one last year
They'd be hard pushed to beat that special edition, as it was totally special, not just a collection of options already available and made stock, and produced in limited numbers too.
The classic mini's had some great special editions. The Paul Smith is another which I'd love to add to the collection They made the most of the anniversary of both the mini and the mini cooper... wonder if the current MINI will follow in the same tradition... MINI 50 in 2009 and MINI Cooper 50 in 2011
Yes the Paul Smith, the 35, and the Monte Carlo are the three special editions that have stood the test of time and are on my classic purchasing list, I shall have one eventually
All because they were true special editions and not made to drive sales in a low spot by the Rover marketing team
I guess you are right, the GP does show that they can do it right, so we could have something really nice next year. As the Parklane was nice, but we all know that was just to help with production planning as they run the old model out and so there were less individual cars being built.
Wonder how well a True MINI 50 Limited edition would go down with the Mini die hards not well I imagine. I was a sucker for a special I had and Advantage and a Sidewalk. The Advantage was more commonly known as a DisAdvantage but the Sidewalk was great although it had no real extras over a standard Mini not even a rev counter.
This was another good edition, the mini Seven, again replicated the retro feel on a standard mini and not a Cooper, so the concept could work on the MINI50
