Facelift for R56?

Looking through various forums, I keep coming across threads in forums that mention that the current Mini is due a facelift. Does anyone know when this might be? Will it be sometime next year or on the 2009 year model? And does anybody know what the changes will be?

I only ask as I'm awaiting delivery of my new car at the end of November. If the facelift is for the 2009 year model, then I might hold on for a few weeks to get the facelift model but if it is not due until next year, then I won't worry too much as I like the spec of the car that I have ordered. I have been caught out before - paid a fair amount extra for DSC on our current MCS and then found out that it is now standard!

As far as I know, there isn't anything due yet or been officially announced. If you're talking about the R56 and DSC, the R56 base price went up to cover the DSC as standard and afaik, it saved us £5 to have it standard! Nothing to be sad about .

There's not point worrying about the future models if you like the current one. There was discussion in here to discuss what people wanted. I guess it'll be end of 2009/2010 I assume until the facelift is out to ensure people don't get caught out with the latest JCW that's just come out. I was a little bit gutted the JCW Factory car was announced a month after mine arrived, but that's the way it goes.

Production for the 2009 model year began September 1st.

If you want DTC with EDLC (Electronic Differential Lock Control) you'll have to delay your build until December 8th.

Thanks guys.

It wasn't a big worry as such - I know a facelift is bound to come out sooner or later. If it was due imminently, I guess I could delay the build for a few weeks to wait for it but if it isn't due until next year, I will need a car before then anyway.

Looking at the thread on the R57 there does seem to be a few new trim options, such as black(smoked?) chrome, colour keyed interior trim, and a few new colors. There may also be a slight change to the front valance, but thats hard to say from the limited shots we have seen so far I would say the majority of these trim options will be available on the R56 too.

While the R50 got a fairly substantial facelift this brought the car more in-line with what BM wanted the MINI to be. The R56 has been a BMW developed car from day one, so the changes should be much less major and limited almost exclusively to trim, etc.

I wouldn't worry too much about the facelift, if any!

Brian.

It's more fun up north!

Hang on - are you saying that this will be an option on *all* the MINIs, not just the JCWs?

Yes ... in the US market so I assume elsewhere as well.

From what I was told the facelift on this car will be every bit as dramatic as it was on the last.

Exactly, what changed last time.... Interior trim, bumpers, lights.....

I did hear early rumours of some sheet metal panel changes, not so sure of that now, if anything I think these will be "if you don't see them side to side, you wont notice" changes, perhaps to accommodate different body styles better.
