Mini E!!!

Hey everybody,

I just got selected for the Mini E field lease trial for Southern California. Im very excited but it seems like a bit of a rip off in price. They want me to pay $850 a month! Obviosuly i'll save on gas, but it just doesn't seem like a fair deal. Any opinions?

I would love to test the car for a year but not sure if this is a good idea? Would love any feedback..

Thanks

The $850/month includes the following that you would have to pay if you bought a petrol MINI yourself:

(a) The cost of the petrol (offset in this case by the minimal cost of recharging the MINI E)
(b) The cost of a (possible) finance repayment.
(c) The cost of depreciation.
(d) The cost of general wear and tear (tyres etc.) that you would incur on your own car, but won't incur on this one as you just hand it back at the end of the year.

Add up the cost of (a) to (d) above, add in a bit for the experience of driving the car, and put a value on the exclusivity/novelty of an electric MINI, and you'll probably come to $850, so it could work out quite well...having said all of that though, I'd still prefer a petrol car than a battery powered one!

Congrats on being selected. I cant really comment on the price myself because I have no idea how much a lease deal would cost on a similar car, but unless I read the figures completely back to front, the MINI E in Berlin seems to be on offer for €250 a month. Wow! Big difference! At €250 a month, I would certainly enroll in the scheme, but $850 a month sounds like expensive

Not here much any more

That price does seem a tad steep, but hey, you would have the prestige of being one of the first to drive one!

Keep us posted on what happens!

You might qualify for a (possibly substantial) tax credit. Discussion going on in this thread:

hey what dealer are you hitched to?
i've also been told that i've been selected for the field lease trial but it's been almost a month since i've heard anything from my dealer (mini monrovia) and it's starting to seem like it isn't gonna happen ...

Why apply for one if you think the cost is high. Did you not know an idea of cost before you completed the questionnaire online?

It's an exclusive drive/ownership and also all the servicing is included in it isn't it?
