| MINI2 Senior | Retractable steel roof Hey. This crappy Opel will have a retractable steel roof: MotorWeek link Here's hoping MINI is listenting... (Psst! Hey, MINI! We don't want an ugly four-seat MINI Open with a lousy soft top and plastic rear window! We want a sexy two-seat MINI Open with retractable hard top and a little bit of storage space! Thanks.) ![]() -wynn Texan. Goofy. Sometimes witty. Pacifist. Imperfect, nice guy. Trying. |

Offline | Re: Retractable steel roof Crappy Opel? Huh? That thing looks better than any new Cavalier in the US market. I wish GM would bring overhere some of these Opels, like the Astra, etc to replace their 22 year old dinosaurs known as the J-Body cars. I agree about the MINI Open, though. But I still prefer a stylish 5 door hacthback or a MINI Wagon for those of us that are thinking of getting a family started or already have children. Convertibles have really never been appealing to me personally but applud MINI's eagerness to bring one to market right away and years ahead of the long awaited and long overdue VW New Beetle Cabrio. | MINI2 Regular | I think the opel looks cool! GM has Saturn and Opel working together alot. You wont see Opels here, but some of their designs end up in the Saturn lineup. The Saturn L-series is basically the Opel Vectra, and that Roadster in the Motor Trend article looks ALOT like the Saturn Sky roadster they showed on this years auto show circuit. Saturn still isn't saying if they will produce the Sky or not... The Sky also had a center mounted Speedo, Mini-style! ~Paul 03 Elec Blue/white MCS Prem/Cold/Fog/Nav Ordered 8/9/02, Built 9/27/02, Home 10/29/02! 71 Volvo 1800E (weekend classic fun) |

Offline | Well, the upcoming all new 2004 Chevy Malibu is in reality the all new 2002 Opel Vectra sedan sold in Europe since the beginning of this year. The '04 Malibu will share its underpinnings with the all new (and beatiful looking)2003 Saab 9-3 sedan. The current Saturn L-series are the old generation Opel Vectra sedan/wagon which I have seen in numerous ocassions while traveling in Europe. The old Vectra still looks much better than the Americanized Saturn L series version. GM is poised to kick some serious ass in the market place and these are the guys to watch out for. BTW, the new 2003 Saturn ION sedan/coupe are also using a center mounted speedo that closely resembles the one found in the ugly Toyota Echo and upcoming Scion BBx small shoe/box shaped truck. Let's get back to MINI... '02 MINI Cooper CVT On Order: 2004 MCS (Est production date: 9/5/03) |
