As BMW/Mini are not going to produce an M Power version they could at least produce a limited edition CSL model which would then be a performance variant for both BMW and Mini brands.

BMW CSL = Coupe Sports Lightweight
MINI CSL = Cooper S Lightweight or Limited Edition

How about it BMW/Mini?

Beyond the Cooper Works stuff I would expect no other endorsed or official tuning from BMW/MINI.

I'd like to see MINI come out with a Limited Edition for 2004 - 45 years of making MINI! Even if it's just a couple of special colors or interior accents available for that year.

I've mused on this before. It would be nice to get what is essentially a MCS with the following items deleted:

- side air bags
- headlamp washers
- a bit of sound deadening material
- rear speakers
- rear spoiler
- mirror heaters

Take that car, swap out the heavy exhaust system and wheels for less porky ones, offer a rear seat and A/C delete option, add a LSD, and voila! Instant CSL MINI for very little extra money.

wasn't the alpina 200hp version widely publicized in magazines as a possible model awhile ago? i hope this is still in the works... considering the alpina name is just being seriously marketed in the US by BMW on their v8 roadster.

It was, but BMW/MINI always denied it, and then some magazine published the model had been 'dumped'. But it was never going to be. They even published several fake photo's ala the convertible.
