| Let's Motor. | M powered Mini Cooper My brother said he read in a BMW article back in September, that the M division of BMW was testing out or 'fooling' with the idea of making an M powered Mini Cooper, anyone else heard of this? |

Offline | This question has come up many times. The consensus is that BMW would NOT consider creating a M version of the MINI as the M treatment is reserved only for BMW models - and MINI is a separate BWM-owned brand (as is Rolls-Royce as of 2003 and for sure you are not going see a M version of the new Phantom ). It has been said the BMW is looking for the Cooper Works versions of the MINI to be the semi-official high-performance tuner versions of all MINIs. As a side note: as of now, there is only one M-powered MINI in the world and it is a one-off RWD race car stuffed with a 6-cylinder M engine: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...threadid=19847 + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

Offline | As far as i am aware there was going to be a cooper made in the Alpina Division of BMW. However they have decided to not go ahead as they could not see much business at the cost they predicted of near £30,000 so for now the 200bhp Kit for S is about as far it is going to go for now that is.. |

Offline | That was never more than a rumour. I don't know if (certain) mags got tired of spinning the same old yarn, or what, but finally they (kind of) came clean by saying it had been 'axed'. Everything I ever saw/heard indicated it was never to be in the first place. |
