The Wall Street Journal today had an article on centrally mounted gauge clusters. In that article they cited MINI sources to stated that, while the speedo will remain at the center of the dash, some sort of electronic display of vehicle speed will be on the steering-wheel-mounted tach.

I would think this would display in the space that the MFC is in the tach. It did not say when this would be available.

i wonder if this could be a update for people with the OBC? we'll see!

It would be cool to have the speed displayed in the tach, but I don't have a problem with the center-mounted speedo. The one feature I'd like to see is dual trip odometers. That way I could use one for measuring my gas milage, and the other for distance driven on a trip.

BTW, MINI did an excellent job on the center-mounted speedometer, and it looks terrific. In the Toyota Echo, they did the same, and it just looks cheap. Kudos to the MINI designers!

This has kind of been on here a few times already. If you run 'test2' the place on the tach that shows temperature etc. already has the 'speed' text in place.

The LCD even has the 2nd trip meter indicator already!
