![]() MINI2 Master | Interesting, everyone in our office has said that they'll never touch another French car again, and are up for a boycott on all French products. Are there any updates on the engine's yet (with the final HP outputs)? |

Offline | Hello all, I am new here. I am in love with Mini and I am really puzzled whether to buy the current one or wait for new R56 model. By the way, I found the following after some search on the net for the new engines : The 207 GTi will also make its return later in 2006, powered by the same engine that will give the next generation Mini Cooper S its drive. Likewise a product of the Peugeot Citroën/BMW Group engine joint venture, the 207 GTi will be powered by a 1.6-litre direct-injection petrol engine that makes use of a twin scroll turbocharger, taking peak power to 134kW (180hp). |

Offline | Hey guys! This is my first post. ![]() My parents will be giving me (hopefully!) as a present a MINI One D late this year. I live in Portugal and a petrol MINI is completely out of the equation seeing as it's more expensive and petrol prices are up the roof and climbing. I've seen the picture of the R56 in the Autocar site, the one with the blue R56 with no masking (can't post links, since I haven't made 5 posts yet lol), and I've fallen in love with that new front. The new interior ir also crazy cool! ![]() Knowing that the new diesel engine will most likely be the 110hp 1.6 HDi, and the manufacturing costs of the R56 will go down a bit, do you think the prices (at least for the diesel version) will be lower/the same or will they go up? That will make all the difference between getting the current one or waiting for the R56, seeing as the price for the basic MINI One D is already the limit my parents are accepting. Thanks in advance for any info you might have. Hope to be a MINI member soon enough. ![]() |

Offline | Every indication is prices will go up. In addition, I've not seen a single, undisguised photo anywhere of the new model (online or in magazines), so be careful what you make judgements on, they're probably disguised or fakes. |

Offline | I was reading an article in Autocar about the new direct injection 3 litre BMW engine, it said that it was fitted with an electric water pump which only worked when required in order to save fuel, it also said that this technology would be used on the upcoming Mini Cooper, sounds like the new engine is going to be very high tech. |

Offline | i doubt psa-bmw venture will mean that they come up with a final product together and that will be that. how do we know mini wont take the engine back round theres and develop it further when people think of french cars they think of the old days where they were crappy tinny things (....well they still kind of are), but they have moved forward and they are probably the most creative automotive group around right now in my opinion. citroen are are extremely creative, daring and exciting with their cars, just hope they can bring something to the table when it comes to engines. ill reserve judgement for when it is released, but i do have high hopes it sounds like it will be quite advanced. |

Offline | Nothing new there is there. It will be very interesting to see how tuning companies go with this new engine, we could get a big cross-over between Pug and MINI tuners, and that could be a very good thing in terms of creativity and initiative, as well as making it more cost effective for tuners to get involved. |
