Hello
I ordered my
MCS some 4 1/2 weeks ago now and was originally told that it would go into production in early May and was given a preliminary delivery date of the first week in July.
Yesterday found out about the July 04 (05 model) updates to the Mini on this esteemed web site and wondered if there was any chance I'd be able to postpone my order for a month or so, because I didn't really fancy having my lovely new car go out of date before I even pick it up.
I contacted the dealer and was told the following...
He said that they'd only found out about the new changes last Friday and that this had put production back. He said the new changes take effect from week 28 and that mine was now going into production in week 28 (on 4th July, to be exact). Hence I'd be getting one of the new types (good news!). However, he also said that the delivery date is the 16th July. Is this right??? Can they really start building a car on the 4th and have it delivered by the 16th? I thought it took much longer than this...?

He also said the car would cost £400 more.
Now... if I
am getting one of the new MCSs, then I'm more than happy to pay the extra £400. However, I find it a little difficult to believe that I am getting one - especially as I was originally told the Mini would go into production at the start of May. Also, should they not have phoned me, rather than the other way round?
I guess my question is, really, is my dealer talking sense...? And does anybody else out there with a July
delivery date have any experience of this? Ok, so that's two questions, but you get my drift.
Any input will be very gratefully received.
Thanks!
PS I'm going to try and get a definite confirmation of the above and will post the outcome as soon as I have any more info...
