United-Kingdom Jul 04 Updates and July Deliveries...

Hello

I ordered my MCS some 4 1/2 weeks ago now and was originally told that it would go into production in early May and was given a preliminary delivery date of the first week in July.

Yesterday found out about the July 04 (05 model) updates to the Mini on this esteemed web site and wondered if there was any chance I'd be able to postpone my order for a month or so, because I didn't really fancy having my lovely new car go out of date before I even pick it up.

I contacted the dealer and was told the following...

He said that they'd only found out about the new changes last Friday and that this had put production back. He said the new changes take effect from week 28 and that mine was now going into production in week 28 (on 4th July, to be exact). Hence I'd be getting one of the new types (good news!). However, he also said that the delivery date is the 16th July. Is this right??? Can they really start building a car on the 4th and have it delivered by the 16th? I thought it took much longer than this...? He also said the car would cost £400 more.

Now... if I am getting one of the new MCSs, then I'm more than happy to pay the extra £400. However, I find it a little difficult to believe that I am getting one - especially as I was originally told the Mini would go into production at the start of May. Also, should they not have phoned me, rather than the other way round?

I guess my question is, really, is my dealer talking sense...? And does anybody else out there with a July delivery date have any experience of this? Ok, so that's two questions, but you get my drift.

Any input will be very gratefully received.

Thanks!

PS I'm going to try and get a definite confirmation of the above and will post the outcome as soon as I have any more info...

Where are you?

I'd say if you are in the UK then it is possible.

My car was built July 02 and made it to the dealer on 15th July & I collected it on the 17th.

Hi KenL

Thanks for the reply! Yep - I'm in the UK...

Hmm.. I've also seen one or two other people hint that they're in the same situation as me and have been given similar information, so it's starting to sound like I may be getting one of the new ones... fingers crossed...

If it was not a facelifted" model, then I would NOT take delivery. You're being very clear with the stealership in telling thme that you specifically want a 2005 modeal.

You should not be forced to take delivery of a car you do not want (2004).

Good luck.

Just a quick update to let you know it's been confirmed I'm definitely getting the facelift model... must be one of the first. Anybody else out there with July deliveries is advised to get in touch with their dealer to find out which model they're getting!

Thanks for the replies, KenL & JFS!

I had to phone my dealer too about the 2005 model... sounds like yours is due a bit before mine though, I've been quoted Aug 6th for delivery.

You choosing Hyper Blue? Think I would if I could afford an S, I'm having Black Eyed Purple instead...

I'm sticking to good ol' dark silver (for now, at least). Perhaps not as exciting as hyper blue to some, but still exclusive to the S. It depends how much more time the dealer gives me to change my mind though...

Delivery dates for NEW (facelift) mini one

Hi

I originally ordered my mini a few weeks ago for a last week in June delivery, but found out about the facelift.

Rang the dealer and was told I was getting the new version and it would be ready 1st week in July.

Rang again today and was told there had been a mistake and i was still getting the old one!

Pretty fed up at this point...I know the pros/cons of new/old but had got used to the idea of the facelifted
model.

So I've changed to a new model and have been told it will be ready early August! and this will be one of the first.

Does anybody here have any idea when the first new models will be on the road as I keep getting different stories.

Regards

I've just changed my order from June delivery, and its now been put back to mid August, so I think Late July/early August is when the new models will hit the roads.

I've just been told that I am now getting the new spec MC but that I need to confirm my spec by end of tomorrow and I won't be able to change it!! Has anyone else had to commit this early? (I have been told all July specs are being made to commit this early)

Problem is I had chosen IBW so I am really in a stew as I'm not sure whether I can tell from the photographs whether I will like BEP. The dealer doesn't have anything for me to look at. Can't decide whether to play safe and have PSB with a silver union jack or risk BEP. Is there any more info on this colour?
