Offline | A sales guy at my dealership mentioned that they were moving the cup holders in the 2003 models... I know they are important to some people, but I couldn't care less if they were there or not and if they move them, where would they put them..? I don't want them to mess up the look of the dash and I can't see where they'd go without a major change to the look of that area. Anyone have any idea / description / spy pics..? Any other changes that are known for 2003..? |

| MINI2 Senior | I say ditch 'em. Or hide them in a retractable tray like the Passats do. I'm annoyed with anyone eating, drinking, or smoking while driving, or even as a passenger, so I have no use for cup holders, ashtrays, or litterbags. Use the space for something else. |

Offline | Beverages in the south I find cupholders a very convienent feature that I wouldn't want to do without. Granted eating and smoking bring a certain level of risk while driving, as ashes can fall and food tends to take more concentration, drinking doesn't take your focus. In the south, I recently moved to Texas from Louisiana, it gets freakin hot in the summer. A cold beverage in the cupholder is needed, oh so refreshing! Did I mention coffee in the AM? Let MINI move, reshape, enlarge, or whatever they feel necesarry to accomidate my BIG GULP. ![]() |

| MINI2 Senior | I hear ya! I'm in Houston, and I start MY day with a huge, (iced) coffee, too-- and cannot imagine trying to drive anywhere without some kind of icy 20-ounce drink or better. It IS rather difficult to imagine how they might move things around to accommodate a proper cup holder, but they've done such a good job with everything else that I will trust the designers to find a way to fix this noteworthy shortcoming. I also wish there were more spaces for storing things in the car, like change, a pen, some business cards, toothpicks, and all the little things that usually go in the compartment between the front seats of other cars. ...Driver purists may also hate me for wanting an arm rest, but that's important enough to me that I'd sacrifice some of the "coolness" of the beautiful seat design to offer a functional arm rest. As long as it's not in the way of my huge drink. ![]() Texan. Goofy. Sometimes witty. Pacifist. Imperfect, nice guy. Trying. |

Offline | NO..! Please not high profile super-size cup holders..!! Wynn, I think the US spec cars have a decent amout of storage space. There's a little recess in the glove box door that you could put business cards in, I think there's a pen clip in there too and the glove box generally holds at least as much as the one in my Grand Cherokee. There's usable space in the door pockets, especially if you keep CDs in a sleeve case (like a CaseLogic one) rather than in the jewel cases. Maybe they will do a retractable set of cup holders - that would be a neat way to please everyone. Those who don't like them never have to pull them out and maybe they could make it big and stong enough to take a quart of ice coffee or whatever you Texans drink..!! ![]() |

| MINI2 Senior | The first time I owned a car with cup holders, I thought, "how convenient," and began the nasty habit of driving to work with a cup a java in hand. And long road trips were accompanied by a bottle of water or can of soda. But then I rediscovered a practice my dad used when I was a kid: the rest stop. When I car-pooled in DC in the '80's, everyone got on board with their commuter mug, and I realized the absurdity: we can't go thirty minutes without suckling (or worse, eating) something? Somewhere an engineer is working on the automotive version of the piddle pack. (You military aviators know what I'm referring to.) Then people like me will have the rest stops all to ourselves. |

Offline | Cruise control, the one's you can see are to switch it on and off, and to return the car to the set crusing speed. There are two further buttons on the other side to set the speed. |

Offline | Monsta, I notice that you have one of the MINI map lights. Is it any good? It looks pretty short and low. Can it really be used to look at a street directory, or are the overhead lights useable/unuseable? Nice 'COOPER' transfer. Where did that come from? I like your car. Regards, ElTel |
