2003 Cooper

In a recent correspondence with my dealer she has made it sound like my car won’t be ordered until July . That makes for a September delivery date of a 2003 model Cooper. This has me a little concerned because I was all set with everything I wanted on the 2002 model that fit in my budget. Now I will probably have to completely redesign the car I want. Does anyone have any credible information on the 2003 model that may help me?

Change in MSRP?
Changes to options?
Etc?

Question 2003 Cooper

Since this is my first thread in the forum, I wanted to thank you guys for the plethora of information that has fuled my already obssesive excitement for these cars. I am officially on the waiting list for a Cooper S for a September build. However, I was hoping to know if anyone had any information regarding the 2003 models. Despite the availability of the Harmon Kardon upgrade as well as a couple of new color options is it worth waiting to get a 2003? Does anyone know when they are going to be made available and if the price will be different. Thanks in advance and its good to be in the company of those with such fine taste in cars!

Sorry to merge both your threads, but with identical titles it seemed the logical thing to do.

A September delivery date will not be a 2003 model. September is the first month production of 2003 builds, which will deliver anytime after mid-October, depending on where you are located. To get a car delivered in September, it'd need to be built in July or August, which will be a 2002 model (like mine, August build).

Other than the availability of Indi Blue in the S model and the HK upgrade, there has been RUMOR that there will be fixes to the interior, particularly the 'squeeky seat' problem (I care) and there is some debate about cupholders (I don't care). At this point, I've decided to wait the extra 6 weeks for those 'upgrades' mentioned...

I think the company will tend to fix minor problems as they arise in 2002 (and include the new adjustments with 2002 models). It makes sense that they would do this because they would get fewer warranty claims. For 2003, I assume they will add a few new options but there won't be any major changes. However, I think that the base price will rise by approximately 3%.

Just a thought regarding 2002/2003. IF(big IF) you were to ever consider selling your Cooper, bear in mind that resale vale is going to be greater in first year of production. In fact, for collectable automoblies(as I predict the Cooper will be), they will begin to appreciate. So, if given a choice, I'll take the small nuances with the 2002 along with the prospect of owning a true collectors car. Again, just a thought.

Before anyone corrects me!!

Bear in mind, the 2002 I am refering to is the Cooper S, knowing of course 2001 for Cooper. Thanks for reading.

hi, i just placed my deposits of my 2003 cooper two weeks ago and the dealer told me that the 2002 and 2003 models would be pretty much the same. I'll probably get mine in April 2003.

I don't think I ever said that, what I suspect I said is that they should be part of the standard spec, not will.

I also have the same problem of specifying my MINI cooper for my budget perfectly, but the order pushed me back to getting my car in November (03). Anyone know for sure if there will be a price increase? Or any real information come out yet? I would really like to know!

Unhappy

I've been quizzing my dealer every couple of days as I also have a 2003 coming. She claims that they still don't know if there will be a price increase or how much it will be. Tough to plan financing based on nothing.

2003 pricing

my dealer (east bay mini) told me that the only price increase on the 2003 cooper would be $150, and for that you get an extra key.

I got a quote of $125 extra. No mention of another key.

See www.miniusa.com for the press release - under The Buzz and then under press releases. For 2003 the price increase is US$125. You get a 2nd remote key, some interior cosmetic options and a new satellite ready stereo (with an aux input for MP3 players - this could be very useful!).

Wow, I think that's gorgeous. I'm concerned that it looks as if there's not so much cool contrast any more between the door panels and trim, with the anthracite-- the other trims all stand out beautifully against the black doors-- but otherwise, on the dash, I think it's splendid. I'm eager to see it in person, of course, since that makes such a difference on the alloy patina, which I love in photos, but find disappointingly fake-looking in person. I'll buy a Cooper S eventually, and I'm excited to have both the silver and anthracite options now, and will choose of those. And I'm especially delighted that MINI is offering more choice-- even for those who'll prefer the alloy patina.

Kudos for the OPTION, MINI! Thank you! Yay!

Now if they'll only let us also have the beige leather and red interiors for the S...

Texan. Goofy. Sometimes witty. Pacifist. Imperfect, nice guy. Trying.
