Today my Mini Cooper turned a week old. So far I've got 600kms and knock on wood, no problems. I did notice that my dealer overfilled my coolant level, but now it is down to it's max setting. I guess they anticipated the coolant loss that has been mentioned here before.
The gas mileage has been good, much better than my old XTerra, I filled up 2 days ago 553kms on 43L. Pretty damned good for a new car. All city driving
Overall, I'm really happy with the car, it is very solid, no rattles or noises, drives like a dream, I'm always taking the long way home now. The cornering performance is awesome, even with the base 15".
My dealer was also excellent (Halifax BMW), salesman told me to drop back at anytime if there is a problem, and if I was in the area drop by for a free car wash.

Very good to hear some good stories for a change, i have had my MINI almost a week and i am loveing it to, i am looking at all these other cars at the moment on the road, but nothing feels as special as my MINI!!
p.s some guy in his new Porsche 911 kept looking at my MINI last night, made me feel very proud
I figured this forum could use a little good news, it seems that all you hear about are the Mini's with problems, I'd hate to see a Ford Focus owners forum.

Three's a charm. My Mini just reached its first week with me as well. Only problem I've noticed is a bit of a squeak from the sunroof when it is closed. Seems to be the pop-up wind deflectors are the culprit. A bit of foam rubber and the problem disappeared.
I love trying to explain that the car's a MINI. It's like, "yeah I know that, but who makes it?" I wonder how long the attention will last.
It's been a joy so far, except for the gas mileage. According to the OBC, I'm getting about 25.5mpg. THAT IS GOD AWFUL LOW!!! It'a barely better than the 5.0 Mustang I traded in for it.
I have not been driving it too hard. I've stuck to the Break-in procedure suggested by the factory (keep the rev <4500rpm and the speed < 95). I do tend to do a lot of expressway and traffic driving though.
I'm really hoping the gas mileage improves after the break-in period. If not, I'm going to have to seriously consider selling it for a more efficient car, like the Golf TDI.

Lapis Blue Leather Interior
I figured out my gas mileage, and I'm getting just over 30mpg. All city/freeway driving. I have just the straight Cooper though, the S is going to burn more.
