Offline | Plant Oxford tour Hi Guys, How do I go about arranging a trip around the MINI factory in Oxford? I'd like to go sometime in December to coincide with a trip to see my parents. Thanks for your help. Richard. ![]() |

Offline | from Mini2 FAQ: Check your local events/social forum, or the UK social/events forum on MINI2 to see if there is a trip currently planned at a suitable time for you. If not.... You can make a booking by either emailing: Oxford.Plant-Tours@bmwgroup.com Or by writing to: Plant Tours, TO-K Communications, BMW Group Plant Oxford, Oxford, OX4 6NL. There will be no charge for the tour, but visitors are encouranged to make a donation to the charity supported by MINI, Whizz-Kidz. Go to the FAQ section for more info.. |

Offline | Thanks for all the info guys. Does anyone have a calendar of when the plant will be open in December? I'm assuming it'll be closed Xmas, Boxing day, New Years Eve and New Years day but open for the rest of the month. Thanks again people ![]() ![]() |

Offline | I have booked to do an evening tour during October. As far as I know they were doing them in September and October from 6.30 pm, but obviously you have to book. Details of email address etc are in the above posts. The cost is £3 each or £2 for students which goes to charity ... I hear the tour is well worth it and at a cost of £3 I don't think you can go wrong. I just hope that they have a shop there that I can buy Mini things from! |

Offline | I have been for my factory tour. At £3 each, I reckon that was the best £3 I have spent in a long time! There were Minis everywhere! I thoroughly enjoyed my tour and enjoying my Mini even more now ..... but was that possible I hear you say. ![]() |

Offline | I do some contract work for Mini and saw the traveller going through the paint-shop last week. Also interesting to see the silver roofs too. I guess that area is out of bounds at the moment to factory tours. JaBBa |

Offline | Yes, some areas were out of bounds and covered up. That is the reason they are only doing evening tours at the moment .... the tour guide said it was due to "major engineering works" but I think us on Mini2.com know otherwise!!! ![]() |

| Ramblin Man | Plant Oxford public transport help! Looks like I have a space reserved on the Plant Oxford tour next week I looked all over for public transport information to and from the train station to Plant Oxford. And spent a couple of hours searching for recommendations.... but didn't find anything specific. One MINI document I saw said to catch bus # 10. But when I visited the http://www.oxfordbus.co.uk what is listed is 10c/d and a 5. I'm not so worried about getting to the factory, mainly leaving. So getting to the factory, catch bus 10 or 10c/d? Or just take a taxi? Then after the tour, do taxis drive by this location, frequently? Do the buses run in the evening (my reservation is for 18:30)? Thanks! I'm looking forward to this tour. Offline | Hi Paul You wil have a great time at the factory Hopefully, someone who lives in Oxford will be able to give you more detailed information but it looks like the 10c and 10d follow the same circular route (probably in opposite direstions) and the route certainly goes close to the factory. The last bus from the factory area is 11:15 pm so that should be OK as the tour finishes around 9pm. Have fun Tony |

| Ramblin Man | Thanks for info rakh1 and Tony! I received my confirmation pdf today, so it's now official I've read everywhere that you can not take cameras in on the tour. From your picts rakh1, it looks like there is a bag/backpack check in desk? I'd hate to get down to the plant and be turned away because my backpack had a camera in it. Thanks again! Offline | Don't worry....the pics I have taken are in a visitor's centre (where you can take all the pics you like). They have lockers that you use for free to leave your camera, phone (no bluetooth allowed) etc in. They then take you on a bus to the plant where, of course, no photography is allowed. It is a realy relaxed and fun day out - you'll enjoy it! R Mini One with *lots* of toys... http://rakh1.blogspot.com http://homepage.ntlworld.com/richand...mini/index.htm MINI2.COM Stickered up |
