Registration Mark of my new mini

I bought a Cooper S yesterday from a Peugot main dealer, having been told the HPI was completely clear. While checking all the documents last night, I noticed the "Dealer warranty and emergency service booklet" contained a different reg no (WX52 xxx) - my car is DA52 xxx).
All of the booklets (service, tlc etc) have the same chassis no (which IS my car), but that book shows a different reg no.

I rang the dealer 1st thing this morning, he went away and checked the HPI again and confirmed the plate had been changed when it was one month old. What I find strange is that if it was changed to aprivate plate, why was it not been changed back when it was sold?
Another strange thing is that I have a "Mini Cherished - Vehicle History Certificate" dated 11/04/2003 - showing the car as reg WX52 xxx - the car was first registered in Sept 02 and was apparantly changed to DA52 xxx a month later - why is this check on WX52 xxx?

Any ideas? :s

After speaking to a very helpful guy at the MINI dealer where the car was sold as a cherished I've found the answer to my question

Luckily he remembered the car - apparantly the car was first registered with a private plate and was changed a month later, but the experian system used to check cars could not find the new reg when they took the car, which is why a the check was on the old plate

Thats very odd!
Why not check with the DVLC tomorrow just to make sure? I think I would just to put my own mind at ease

When I bought my MCS I transferred the reg number over my MC. In good old BM dealer fahion, they paperwork got cocked up so I took delivery of my MCS with a normal registration plate (MT54 ***). About a week later, we changed it to my own plate (CK04LMK). Happy days.

This morning, I saw a neat pepper white MO and was slightly surprised to see its number plate, MT54 *** - my old number. Presumably its normal for numbers to re-issued? I've never really thought this through - hence my surprise.

If I swap my car, and keep my current plate, is my MCS just issued with a free '54 plate?

When I was selling my 1st Cooper Privately, people had trouble trying to HPI it even though I`d changed the plates back 2 months previously, but the DVLA dont necessarily do the rqd paperwork within that time

Whats supposed to happen when you take your private plates off, (to put them on a new car), is that the car is supposed to revert to its original number (if different plates than private on when new).

Its best to get all the garage you bought it off to sort out all the paperwork asap so that whenever you come to sell it, there is only ONE identifying number on ALL paperwork
