temperature gauge question

i've just noticed that whenever i start my mini, the temp gauge starts hot (i guess because that's the side it "rests" on) and takes a minute or two to get to the halfway point between hot and cold. once it hits the halfway point it's fine. but should i be concerned that it stays on the hot side for a long time, or is this normal? thanks

i think i see the problem; i don't think of it so much going from right to left, as going from down and upwards. up = hot, just like a thermometer. better now?

Woops! Thought I'd got away with this one! Sorry, I circled the wrong symbol - was meant to circle the stars and stripes!
