Offline | Is this a RIP off or what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi,I phoned my insurance company the other day to advise them that I would like to insure the the loan car I'm being provided with while I wait for the cooper S to arrive,so the ever polite assistant on the phone ask me what make, model, value of the car was which is incidently a Seat Ibiza 1.4 sport 3 door value £11.350,she came back to me after I was listening to some awful piped music saying I would have to pay an EXTRA £4 PER DAY MORE, so if I insure it for 2 months this WILL cost me an extra £240 over and above the £254 premium for the whole year I have already paid for to insure our cooper. ![]() There excuse to why I had to pay all this was, because its a loan car. PS,This is one company who will not be getting my renewal premium when its due. Smiffy any ideas why.????????????????? |

Offline | Re: Re: Is this a RIP off or what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My insurance policies have always stated that they will cover for courtesy cars. All I need to do is phone them to get a cover note for the car. Does this mean I'm paying extra in my insurance for this service? MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. Offline | My policy also covers for courtesy cars, but I'm fairly sure there is some restriction on time. Couple of days for services/repairs is no problem, but I'm sure they would charge for 2 months! Oh, and they wanted 40 quid to cover me for ONE day for a 24 hour test drive of a 306DT (needless to say I didn't bother!). Makes £4 a day seem very reasonable... |

Offline | My insurance was £167 on the internet(direct line), but now having to pay an extra £33.60 for my alloy wheels and other extras - salt package. This seems a bit excessive. I have been far too honest. Tried the mini insurance on the mini.co.uk site (sorry) and they wanted almost another £80 for extras. They can't even get quotes out to you - some system problem. They want you to get quotes by internet, but you can only quote for a basic mini and I don't believe there are many out there without some modification. Well, that's enough moaning for one day. Offline | Our ONE is with the dealer at the moment having a new gearbox fitted (long story!) The dealer has loaned us a 330d 3 series. One phone call to my broker and it was covered on our own policy with no extra charge. I am 32 and my wife is 29, perhaps age is a consideration? |

Offline | The reason why it will cost you more is really logical You are more likely to kick the arse out of a car that doesn't belong to you than you are to do it to your own car, therefore there is a higher risk that you wil whack something. My advice would be get your monies worth and take part in some traffic light grand prix or some back road rally cross |
