Online | DRINK DRIVING - the big no no I know its a crime at any time of year but as the xmas party season approaches just a reminder - not that I think anyone on here would be stupid enough but if you see someone attemping it - don't hesitate to report them - keep death off our roads I was hit head on by a drink driver who luckily only killed my Mini Pickup He was 4 times the legal limit & was at the time on his 4th ban for drink driving ![]() ![]() |

Offline | I agree, 100%. It's very sad, but after years of decline it seems that the rate of drink driving has started to climb again I believe that there are a lot of drivers out there that feel they are "safe" to start drinking and driving as they feel they are no longer likely to be stopped; a damaging consequence of the over reliance on safety/revenue cameras in place of proper policing Tigger. ![]() Unintimated and I'm back!! ![]() For sunshine, fun and Cornish Pasties: New MINI Kernow Cornish Oggy Run 2009! |

Offline | Mikey, I have to appologise. I saw the title and immediately thought of some shameless plug for maybe a in car breathalizer. Sorry... I now realise you are making a very serious and well put point, to get people thinking about the amount of alcahol consumed before sitting behind the wheel. Well done, I think you have demonstrated that its not just the drunk that gets hurt, but it could be the innocent road user as well..... I mean this in the nicest way, thankfully they hit your mini instead of a more vunerable pedestrian or a cyclist, who probably wouldnt have survived that accident! Although wouldnt it have been better if he had hit a very solid wall instead... ![]() Keep save over the holidays all. mD( ) |

Offline | Spot on comment Tigger, I couldn't agree more. In actual fact most of my department (Traffic) would also agree with you. Where 60 officers used to cover my (large) area it's now down to less than twenty. This means at any one time we've usually only got one traffic car out. Mind you we still average one drink driver a night through either routine stops or collisions. The drink/drive problem is definitely on the increase ![]() |

Offline | I have worked in a+e for 4 months, and have seen loads of people who have had minor bumps. I have also seen a couple of major car related injures. The 16 (yes) year old who had scalped herself by being ejected from a car she was drink driving with no seat belt will stick in my mind for a while |

| MINI2 Senior | I agree shop the drunk drivers... Years ago I was involved in a drink drive incident after someone robbed a bank and drove the getaway car drunk and caused a large pile up resulting in my brother getting injured. The thief went through the windscreen and we had the joy of following him around the hospital, from x-ray to treatment etc Not a nice experience for anyone. Enjoy the Xmas Spirit but leave the car keys at home! |

![]() In Demand | its unbelievable how even one drink can impair your judgement whilst driving! but whats more annoying, your still at risk, even if YOU haven't been drinking! i nearly got cleaned out TWICE by the same drunk driver in the space of about 30 seconds! he went flying past me on the outside lane of a motorway roundabout nearly taking the rear corner of my car with him, hit the side of a lorry, went bouncing over the centre island and then came hurtling towards me on my side of the road, got stopped and the proceeded to reverse his car right into the crash barrier! SO BE WARNED, EVEN IF YOU HAVEN'T TOUCHED A DROP, WATCH OUT FOR SOMONE WHO HAS! |

Offline | Thats a good point Soggy... Quite often in the Midlands the Police will breathalise in the morning round here as well... as they should imo I just find it more simple not to drink if I want to drive... | MINIaddiction | | For MIDLANDS Folk in their MINI's | |
