Hehe, well I've browsed other car forums long enough to know the MCS isn't the best drag monsters out there, seen tons of these threads about people beating MCSs.
But I suppose most of the MINI owners out there wanted a cool car thats decently fast and wicked in the corners, only a few would take much pride in winning street drags like these.
I found this story intresting, You know a cocky mcs driver sees a lil old bug and WAAMM!! gets smoked by a classic.. I also have a classic bug packing big power, but I just put this thread up cus Im also a pround owner of a MC. Some of you MCS drivers out there get a lil 2 cocky. An S tried to race me the other day, Yes I know my stock mini doesnt have a chance against any S. I was thinkin 2 my self If I had my bug I would of straight had him breathing my tire dust. You can say I was a lil angree at that.
I owned a 69 Bug when I was in high school. I loved the car but had an old lady make an illegal u-turn in front of me while I was doing about 55 mph. Lucky I wasn't killed....
Anyway, my old bug would have blown the doors off of my MCS in a drag race. Like his, it was much the same build. It looked very stock but the engine would have ripped the MCS apart off the line. Like others have said, the MCS is not designed as a drag car... However, I would have liked to see him keep up on a twisty track....
Im not here tring to pick a fight cus , I my self own a mini. Peformance should be rated all around not just your time in 0-60mph right? Then why do most MCS owners think their S is better than a MC?
Hmm? Isn't the MCS plain faster than a MC? And pretty much just as fast in corners? Hey, I have an MC and I have no problem with MCS owners saying their car is "faster/better", it is, its just that personally I don't want/need a faster MINI
Each to their own! I bought the MINI to enjoy driving it, some buy cars to enjoy beating other cars in the drag or in the twisties.
What I find amusing in that post is how (a) the fans of a particular make/model will so readily trash talk any other vehicle (that goes for many MINI owners too) and (b) how clueless they are about other vehicles. For example, one post mentions 163 HP, while somebody else mentions 168 and thinks he is giving MINI too much credit. Everybody knows the '05 model year saw the bump in HP and changes in the gear ratios,
To each their own - live and let live. Maybe some day he'll come across a classic Mini with a Honda VTEC engine and be completely confused.
Yeah yeah and in my youth Hot Car was full of stories "I've fitted a sports air filter to my
Fiesta and now I burn off 911's" et al. Such stories are only useful for feeding the plants.
Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs
Never heard of this mini, How fast is it? And yes I seen classic minis with a v--tech, very impressive. All Im sayin, lots of MCS owners Look down on the MC just because its not as quick. They both come from the same famaly, MCS drivers... just dont get to cocky ok?
Hold on - you post a story about an old VW burning up a MCS and then tell off MCS owners for being cocky "over" MC owners?
What's the supposed scoop here - someone with a modded car tricked some dope into a drag race? I don't see there is a moral in the story and certainly not one about Coopers vs Cooper S's? Just imagine if the MINI in your story was a MC - it would have been so far behind the VW it wouldn't have seen the "pass me now" wave
If you have a chip on your should about your MC vs MCS then start a thread and say that.
