Reversing Light

Hello all, just wondering if you could help me... (How many posts start like this?). While washing my car on Christmas Day (actually, to be 100% truthful, while my brother was washing my car on Christmas Eve, but it doesn't have the same ring to it) I noticed that my reversing light had been broken. Given the scratches around it and the scuffing on the bumper it looks like somebody has driven into me. (Now I know why I returned to my car the other day and found that the alarm had been going off... ). Obviously, society being what it is today, the cad just drove off without a care in the world, leaving me a tiny bit miffed and with a bruised mini...

This leads me to my question, the glass on the reversing light has entirely gone... so, what do I need to do? Can I just replace the glass (unlikely I know, but one has to ask)?, do I need an entire new light assembly? If so, how much will it cost me and can I fit it myself (or am I foolish to even contemplate such a thing, given that my mechanical skill is bordering on non-existent).

Any advice on what to do next would be gratefully accepted, even if it is just to tell me that I need to book an appointment with the dealer and get my cheque book out...

In case this matters at all, it's a 2003 Cooper...

You will need a new reverse light unit, they're not expensive, but you'll need to order it from your dealer. It's pretty easy to fit yourself if you chose, but it's fiddly and not a nice job in the cold weather. Probably take the dealer a few minutes to do, but what they charge minimum in labour is anyone's guess. Shouldn't cost too much either way.
